Liverpool must now turn their attentions to Wayne Bridge ahead of the new season as priority of a left back looms large on the clubs shoulders. Having already spent around £30 million on midfielders, a position not short in players, backups and backup to the backups the need for a left back has intensified. With Konchesky looking to fullfil his contract at Liverpool but deemed surplus to requirements in a position that has one other player in Aurellio, a highly talented left back but highly injury prone, Liverpool looked across the city towards arguably the best left back in Europe last season. An approach was made yesterday and within 30 minutes, the tears from David Moyes and Baines still rolled down their face at the hillarity of such a move, Baines a lifelong Evertonian, from a family of Evertonians couldnt help but contain himself at the sugestion he would step over the park and to the dark side, and such with the rebuffal Kenny has had to turn his attentions to Wayne bridge of Manchester City. The City left back has had a turbulent time at the Eastlands, and also at West Ham where he had to shoulder quite a bit of the responsibility for the Hammers poor defensive displays, and it begs the question should Liverpool land their new number one target, would they not be better off with Konchesky? In other News: Liverpool have been told they will have to repay £8.2m of European funding if they do not go ahead with plans to build a 60,000 capacity stadium at Stanley Park.
Johnson and Robinson can play LB. We are far from desperate in that position and will not buy Bridge.
Too bad Arabian. Also, if you want to be sure we've ruled ourselves out of Bridge. Refer to Henry's recent comments about age on Twitter, then take a look at the age of Bridge.
It's a poor wum though; I'll leave it open for everyone to pick arguments in his obviously flawed article. If it descends into anything nasty it'll get locked.
Ze Liverbird, please do as its great reference for when the deal actually goes through. watch this space.
ArabianExPat. Do you have a link to this 'article'? Or, are you just a very creative boy? I would refer you to the case of James Carragher esq. Proof in point that the leopard can indeed change it's spots. After spending some time at LFC, he did venture across the Park to his beloved EFC. Quickly seeing the error of his ways, he high-tailed his way back to the Light and now guess which two games he wants to win most each season? We won't buy Bridge while we've hot holes in our arses. Thank you and goodnight.
Ze Liverbird, the article may have been sensationalised a little, for artistic purposes bur essentially you will get Bridge and should the article be closed a new one will appear when he has signed, will be intrestng to see how much views on Bridge change when he signs and says he is a lifelong liverpool fan.
Ze Liverbird well im willing put money on it but short of being able to email the funds its a pretty pointless concept and i dont feel right taking mobney off a liverpool fan.
Old, Fat, Slow, Careless, but if he sign's worldclass player who will improve the squad immeasurably!! no need for another thread now, mostly because we won't sign him.
Ze Liverbird. Can you do us a favour just to annoy him..put up the blue ****e lullaby. Its on the Ballad of Dixie and Kenny video on youtube it comes under songs.
timmy5x, well we shall see, had i put on here you would have spent £35 million on Carroll, £16-20 million on Henderson & £8 million on Adam 12 months ago you would have all had the same reaction. Never say never im not in the know as such but from what i have been told in the last few weeks its pretty much all done, the story like all transfer sagas, just wont go away and keeps resurfacing, with things like that it generally means the deal will go ahead. Im not here to mock and yes i may sensationalise the article to make it a bit more fun but from the information i have and from what i see in the media Wayne Bridge will be bought, thats not to say he wont just be the backup to another left back as your options are limited in this area.
It is actually being reported by Setanta, he's just obviously added a bit of flavor to it. Fair play, and maybe not purely a WUM attempt. I'd rather have kept Konchesky than sign Bridge, and i'm sure Kenny agrees. This is just lazy media with a lazy link. This wouldn't fit in with out policy at all. I also happen to think Wayne Bridge is very poor and has always been- the dreaded word- 'overrated' (for definition see Stewart 'not Juan Mata' Downing). Really do not rate him and couldn't believe when people started calling for him ahead of Cole in the England team. As for Baines i know everyone says no way, and i think yes there is no way the deal will actually happen, but i also think why the hell would Everton not sell? Twitter yesterday was telling me it is 2009 since they last signed a player for the first team squad who wasn't a loan or free. I think Baines is an absolutely immense player so could cost us up to £20mil, and i don't think that would be too bad a deal for us. He's the one option i'd be absolutely convinced would solve things for us. Everton could reinvest that in several positions, which is surely what they need more than a top class fullback?
John W. Henry has catagorically said we are not in for players "of a certain age" for the first team. Bridge is of that age so will not sign... you'll have more chance seeing Lionel Messi in a Liverpool shirt then Wayne Bridge
