I don't think Rio is saying anything that many managers aren't thinking. Let's hope we keep him for another season at least. If he brings some goals to the party he'll be the finished article. How much did Citeh pay for Sterling?

Rio is only saying what we already know and i bet the club has already had enquirers about him. It wont surprise me one bit if there will be a scramble to get him before the window closes but we will make one hell of a profit if he does go.....

Its annoying but part of game and whether he says it or not people within clubs already know mate.

At least you have players other clubs want...in other words take it as a compliment.

I just want him playing for us this one Phil, more specifically this window is still open for another 2 weeks, he could go if somebody like Chelsea comes in for him.

I'll worry about next season when it comes

The only reason the top few regular teams at the top of the prem are always there is because they have the money to buy their places there, and always rape the other lower teams of their best players to negate any serious threat from them. Thats just the way it is in this twisted greed is good country so we may get pillaged of our best players again by a huge wallet !
Hope the curse continues to follow most that leave us though :emoticon-0130-devil:emoticon-0131-angel

i will never say never, there is plenty of time yet but it will have to be a fee that we would be stupid to turn down, every player has his price....

We have to thank Rio for stating the bloody obvious.

Good players attract attention, great players attract interest.
Monterro currently is a good player but if his form continues then pretty soon he'll be considered a great player and, imo, will be gone at the end of the season, if not sooner. Unless, imo, we qualify for Europa league, that may keep him here.

He is worth over £100m to us so we must try to keep him but football is never as straight forward as that. He is a great player and has adapted to premiership football very easily and he only cost us £4m. If the really big clubs come calling then anything between £10m and £15 will spark jinx's interest as a good deal. I hope we can hold on until the window closes and hope we can qualify for European football because if we dont and he performs like he has been then we wont be able to keep him. His value will shoot up though so we would get a good pay day for him.....

I see where your coming from Dai, but 'great' is a retrospective measure.

We don't know if Monterro is great or even will be great at this point. All we actually know is that we have an old school winger who has played two sensational games on the bounce and terrorised the opposition.

He needs more games and performances under his belt before we can truly see what he is so lets not go heaping unwanted pressure on him. We should just enjoy him and watch him turn into whatever it is he is going to be; good, great, injured, faded, who knows, we'll see.

That's not just this country though. It's the way of the world. Don't forget we 'rape' (hate that word) other teams in lower divisions for their talent. I wonder what teams like Exeter think of us taking their star player only to stick him on the bench?

You're not wrong about money talking but we've benefitted from the system too.

He is going to be a star i can feel it but feelings after just two games wont get clubs to pay over the odds and hopefully that will work in our favour. Come January though when he has had most of the season and have produced the goods then i shudder to think what his worth will be then....I would not hazard a guess as he would blitz what we got for bony and little Joe combined... I'm very excited about this lad...
