Got my Shrewsbury ticket this morning and according to the girl in the ticket office the tickets are selling surprisingly well considering all that has happened. Shrewsbury have sent an allocation of 650 tickets which i really believe we can easily fill if going on the previous season starters away from Home Park. Be good to just watch 90 mins of Plymouth Argyle league football again after all the uncertainty over our clubs future (which i know is still not a done deal). Be great to get the away end rocking and show our support to the new lads in our famous green. How many of my fellow 606ers are making the trip??
I thought I was but have been told by the missus that were going camping next week! Did try to convince her that there are great campsites in Shropshire but she has smelled a rat and we're off to the coast.
and you will all be made very welcome after the time you have had, let us hope our pre season friendlies iron out the playing difficulties. we came unstuck at home against tranmere last night, but there who doesn't. good item in the wmn today by the gulls saying they and stevenage lost money going to old trafford p/o finals. why should L2 p/o finals be played at wembley or old/trafford. 11474 attendance in a stadium that takes 76000. just more L2 money going to the bigboys. why not play at bradford, luton town or bristol city and save money. any way enjoy yourselves in shropshire next weekend. do try jennys! pies, they are great
Never mind the warm welcome just bring 650 back to Home Park when it's your turn. We need the cash. A lot of clubs in this league will like our away support this season. There will be few clubs who bring more.
Not going to be back in time for this one but will be at the first home game, shame as I was hoping to see the new stadium. As long as we get 11 out on the pitch then that is a result but sneaky feeling 1-0 to the greens with our only shot on goal, I trust the Shrews fans will take it better than the ´Saints´did last year if we do steal it
Just got my season ticket this morning. Yippee! However due to work unable to make the Shrewsbury trip.
That makes two of us homepark or 5 if you include my son,my mate and his dad. Waited this long because my mate wanted to move seats and was away. It was a bit shocking to seeso many choices on screen however. Not sure how many season tickets have been sold now but it did look considerably down on last season.
Well from what the girl at the office said, there has been over 3,000 tickets sold so far. I suppose it depends on where people have chosen to sit, we along with several season ticket holders have had to vacate block 16 - my Grandad and I will now be in block 13. I am surprised that to pay on the day at HP will still be £20 for adults though - still (I reckon) the most expensive in the league.
Blimey, Gillingham and Swindon are a bit sure of themselves aren't they? Reading more of that article, it seems that you can attend games at Premier league clubs for less than that.
As I see it league 2 clubs are in abit of a catch 22 situation. It is the only league with a wage ceiling and it all depends on your income. The temptation must be for them to extract every possible penny out of any support they may get. Hence the cost of season tickets and day by day tickets being a bit more than anticipated. The catch 22 is that by putting such prices on the product they run the risk of driving people away who would otherwise have bought into it. Is it viable to charge a fair bit less in the hope of attracting sufficient to make the same amount of money or possibly more in the end. If Argyle charged say £40 less for a season ticket and £17 pay on the day would they get an extra 2000 a game? Personally I doubt it so they go for the proven numbers and try to balance the books that way. Teams are likely to have a wage bill based on a given number of customers and max that out. If however their numbers fall away as a season progresses they are also likely to find themselves in trouble with the Authorities for transgressing the rules. What are the sanctions if that happens because I don't know. Is there some scope for exceeding the figures by a certain amount? It is a nightmare to know what to charge and even what you can get away with charging. If Argyle were to have a decent season and possible promotion be on the horizon, history has proved that the numbers will increase throughout the season. That is almost irrespective of cost. If they don't then numbers could just as easily fall. Not by a lot maybe but it doesn't have to for a club to find themselves in **** street with the wage bill.
The BBC 'Price of Football' is a farce. The cost of an Argyle match is based on the League Cup game against Millwall where entry is a tenner. You can add another £10 on for our League games.
Have you seen the tea at Home Park? 2 quid??????? I know water is more expensive down here but that is bloody extortion. It does day at the top "cheapest day out" so presume all of the totals are based on the same formula and you can add on amounts.
Well camping has ended early due to torrential rain and a leaky tent! Had to leave because had the little un's with us and we were soaked. Bloody British weather! Am sunburnt to hell as the first two days were glorious. Can't wait to get my campervan in January so these little things don't affect us. On the plus side I earned brownie points by arranging the day at Worcester races tomorrow so have bought my ticket and booked the train and am off to Shrewsbury on Saturday. Despite everything that's going on at the club it's us fans that will get us through this ****. Anyone else going? According to the Shrewsbury ticket office there are a lot of Argyle fans going and they reckon it would be dangerous not to book in advance as they will sell on the day but once the away end is full they won't allow Argyle fans anywhere else in the ground. £18 wasn't as bad as I expected and I have a really good record watching us first game of the season. Saints last year, Reading the year they were promoted to the prem, and in the 80's at Elm Park, 0-0 at Mansfield years ago was dire but had a good weekend out. Did go to Southend and lose 2-1 but I was so wrecked that day I can't remember much about it. Any suggestions for a pub where the Green Army will be? Train gets in at 11.15 and have to pick up my ticket at the ground.
