town entertain stanley this saturday needing 3 points to keep their fingertips on the lower rungs of the promo rat race. since towns exhalted and much hallowed visit to the emirates, town have shown all the skills and speed of a 3 clawed sloth. major improvements in the teams performance is needed. now to our visitiorstats. league p14 w3 d6 L5 f13 a19 gd-6 p15 pos 19 results L h chelt L h swindon 0-2, d a plymouth 2-2, w h accs 3-2, d a oxon 1-1 L h crewe 0-2 top scorers 0, 5 have scored 2. note ackers away record 0 wins 5 draws, lost 1 on current form i go for 0-0, 4787 att. it is time for the sloths to come down from the trees and the ackers to take up advertising milk again. er floreat salopia
Judging from Turner's comments on ShrewsWeb it looks as if Bradshaw may get a rare start up front with Morgan. Stanley do not score many but do not concede many either. We have found them difficult to play against at home in the last two seasons but I am going for a rare clean sheet for the Town and a 2-0 victory with Morgan and Wright scoring.
sadly i was still suffering when i composed this thread, tonight we entertain ackers etc 0-0 4787. shots 2 man u 0
After a mixture of good then nerves, town produce a nice few build ups and this is rewarded with a nicely worked goal supplied by Ainsworth, a low cross slid in by bradders.
yes another 3 points, and a win is a win and town are in 3rd place. but just compare our gd with those teams around us. that may be our undoing in 31 games time. well done crewe, torquay, now all town have to do on saturday is to follow the gulls performance 4-0! any well done town and bradshaw. did our lads up front get much service from midfield, or have we a problem in m/field? have been on the gasboard to say we had done them a favour tonight and why in another gutless gas performance had they added 3 to vale's gd. still awaiting a respose
Good result, shame it wasn't two nil. Bradshaw deserves another start. Ainsworth or Grandison as man of the match. Sitting in Three Fishes drinking a quick pint of Newby Wyle Osiron - lovely pale ale.
a lot of possession and some good play...but just 1-0?...never mind ill take that!!..not a too bad crowd either..
Accrington were by far the worst team to visit this season. They offered no threat to our goal (or perhaps we defended better). To only win 1-0 was criminal. Morgan had a mare in front of goal, missing a sitter and failing to pass to Bradshaw who was staring at an open goal. Wroe and McAllister were pretty decent in midfield. Ainsworth is still the only one of our players that excites, though.
perhaps once young jamie collins has ceased practising for next years monte carlo rally he may fit in uncle grahams plans up front. it was an excellent result for town last night but our gd is so low. who will put that right
We have the best home record in the division but we continue to frustrate, especially in front of goal. One nice finish from Bradshaw but he contributed little apart from that. Morgan is unrecognisable from the player he was at the start of the season - the high workrate remains but he is becoming embarrassing in front of goal. Our tendency to knock the ball long over the top of midfield meant Wright and Wroe could not get their passing going though Mcallister put in a decent shift. Ainsworth was excellent throughout and caused panic in Stanley's defence every time he got the ball. How we did not score more than one goal from his barrage of very good crosses is a total mystery. For me, Collins has been our most consistent finisher recently and he should be given a starting place on Saturday (perm any one of three for his strike partner!). As we do seem to be catching teams on the break using the long ball I also think Taylor should start instead of the out-of -sorts Wright. Taylor also has the advantage of being able to shoot while some of our other forwards should take the cotton wool stuffing out of their ridiculous lime green boots. Stanley were by far the poorest team we have played all season (I do not remember Neal having a save to make) so it was disappointing they were still in the game at the end - we will not get away with such sloppiness in front of goal against better sides.
I did say at the start of the season that i was no fan of Morgans and it looked like he was proving me wrong, but he as done this at other clubs, started brightly and faded away, he was totally useless last night and i think he only deserves one more last chance
I think Morgan's relatives were sitting a couple of seats in front of me last night, looked a similar build to him yet younger. Kept on referring to him throughout the full game including his warm down time. Morgan is a hassle to the defence and does a better job if it than Harrold. Yes he missed, and misses some great opportunities though. Wrighty deserved to be subbed last night, too many failed passes. Did anyone else see Bradshaws head move when Ainsworths powerful cross came in and bashed him?
