no games are easy but on paper this game looks easier. aj cautions beware. carlisle have taken 4 points from 18, all 4 points won away. 3 at yeovil and 1 at preston. their manager says a few key players are due back from injury, compared to several key shrews players about to come back in form!

    results p6 w1 away d 1 away lost 4

    gd shrews -6 home 13-11
    gd carlisle -14 away 13-13

    goalscorers

    garner 8 forward
    beck 4 forward
    robson 4 defender.

i assume gt will start with our marv and lukeybabey up front, but would not like young tom to be scapegoated for last weeks miss. he and doble are the in form strikers. do hope our marv and lukeyb. pay attention to that.

weatherwise, rain and sleet is forcast, do hope the pitch allows the game to proceed, after several nights of severe frosts.

do like the jim rockford/james garner connection. well done kds. as for dwindling gates, purely temporarily as a result of an overhyped commercially bonkers time of the year, all for some man in a red coat and a bushy white beard.

it is this time of the year that our illustrious chairman betrays a red nose. no not rudolf but roland and an overflowing hip flask of tanners late bottled vintage port!

good on yer roland. enjoy. floreat salopia!!

Massive game this - I am sorry Wright is out as he can give us a goalscoring edge when on song. At least a few players like Richards and Taylor are coming back to form. I predict 2-0 to the Shrews with Taylor and Summerfield scoring (attaendance 4950).

Scunthorpe should have been an "easy" one, shouldn't it? Truth is, there's no such thing for us this season. Our League 1 survival is on a knife edge and I don't know whether we can improve enough to make it. I think we need 6 points from the next 4 games to get our points/games totals level (at 25) and give us a decent chance, but that requires us to have just about our best run of the season. Here's hoping.

So close! If only Taylor had crossed for Rodgers to score the first, and Matster hadn't beaten me to the attendance by 9, I would be flying...

apparantly shrews put in a lousy performance against carlisle in freefall, but 3 points gained are vital. 22 points from 22games.

Surreal game. Carlisle first to every ball and then Taylor scores a little cracker. Not to make life simple we gift them an equaliser. Fortunately Morgan came alive towards the end of the first half ane the beginning of the second to set up the winner.

Summerfield greatly missed in midfield but thankfully Jones and Grandison were dependable in central defence with Goodson and Gayle doing enough. Rodgers never looked like scoring(isn't that why he was there?) but had a few neat touches.

we have played a great deal better and lost, but i don't care i will take the points any day, but we desperately need a few signings just to give everybody a kick up the butt, would be nice if Morgan could give us 90 mins too as really Carlisle are a very poor team and i thought he may have done them a bit of damage today...also nice to be out the drop zone too that should give everybody a bit of Christmas confidence

Not too many good performances but we managed to find a way to an important win. Parry showed a quality finish but did little else. Wildig was way off the pace of the game though did get more into it in the second half. I was not convinced by either of our young full-backs and wonder what Jacobsen has done as he is one of the best natural defenders in the squad. One interesting fact is that we did not have a single corner all match - I cannot remember that happening before. There was a rumour going around that Leon Clarke will be signing soon - we also need a centre-half and a central midfielder now Summerfield is out for a while.
