this morning is a sombre occasion, not just because it is remembrance sunday, but because through inept play and management the shrews have sunk to 23rd place and in my view are likely to remain there for some time to come. on saturday next we entertain crewe alexandra who seasoned shrews fans will recall beat shrews in the trophy cup at the meadow. crewe had a splendid game yesterday coming from behind to beat colchester 3-2 at gresty road crewe have beaten doncaster away 2-0, lost at home to yeovil 0-1, beaten swindon at home 2-1 drawn at walsall 2-2 and lost at pompey 0-2 league p17 w6 d5 L6 f19 a23 gd-4 points 23 compared with shrews p17 w3 d5 L9 f18 a24 gd16 points 14 shrews home gd f10 a10 crewe away gd f9 a13 crewe scorers pogba 7 m/f leitch-smith 4 m/f clayton 4 f clayton 18 is another forward to emerge from the alex production line being football league player of august, following in the footsteps of nick powell 17 young footballer of february. i cannot see shrews winning with their weak defence, inept strikers and inadequate management. graham turner no longer commands my support, and i see nothing less than a 3-1 win for crewe in front of 5591 attendance. aj is now so pissed off with shrews management, coaching and squad, that regrettably this is definitely aj's last pre match thread. prove me wrong turner and the shrews. if we lose on saturday i will have no hesitation in saying a big thankyou graham for all you have done for the shrews in league 2, but for the sake of the future of our great club, go!
Atcham, We are all down at the moment but the Club needs the support of everyone. I would urge everyone going to the game (as I will be) to put aside their frustrations and give 100% support to whoever plays in the team. We can only get out of this hole with everyone, including the supporters , sticking together. This site will be a lot worse off without your pre-match threads and comments so please stick with it. I predict we will end our slump and beat Crewe 2-1 with Parry and Rodgers scoring and a crowd of 5500.
greenhous.m i admire your optimism and pro tem i will be 100% with you. but the next 2 games are crucial. i am not expecting 6 points, but 2 or more would keep us in touch.
This is an absolutely huge game - we simply cannot afford to lose the next two games as we will be cut adrift. Hartlepool are hosting Coventry on Saturday so the chances are that the gap between us and 20th will be bigger than it is presently should we lose. Bury stand a chance of nicking a point away to Colchester, although Scunny hosting Notts County will hopefully result in a home loss. The Tuesday again sees plenty of the sides above us have very winnable games, including Hartlepool vs Oldham. I would stick with the same XI from the Orient game for the next three games - continuity is required for the players to build partnerships (although personally I wouldn't say it's our strongest side, I think further disruption will prove futile) and it sounded as though we created chances down the other end which is promising. However, I think we'll be lucky to take a point from the next two fixtures. Prediction: Shrewsbury 1-2 Crewe (Morgan; 5,001)
Lenny, I would agree we need to stick to a settled side for a few games to let partnerships (particularly up front and at the back) gel. If we could stop cheap goals going in from set pieces we have a decent chance of getting some points from these two games and I reckon 4 points would see us move up a place or two (and cheer everyone up!)
Well.....all we can do is shut up shop, tight at the back and try and get Crewe on the break, just to try and stop leaking goals and generate some confidence, open play and Crewe will destroy us, we haven't got good enough players to take the game to them....but what will make me mad if Pogba scores against us, you know the forward they stole for nothing from Wrexham (like the sort of thing we should be doing!)....mind you it will vilify what ive been saying all along SO..... Shrewbury...0 Crewe 2 5200(decending take note Rowland) Pogba (2) i can just see it!!
They beat us with ease in the JPT so work to be done. My gut feeling is we'll not leave it so late this time. Shrews 2-2 Crewe (Richards, Rogers) Att: 5850 Crewe owe us a decent away following. We sold out ours last time out!
bet365aj wishes to alter his prediction for saturday shrews 2 crewe 1. morgan bradshaw att 6009. er floreat salopia!
oh wondrous shrews, gt i take it all back, what a great win whilst all around us were losing heavily. shrews hopefully will stay up because of their gd, even if it is in 20th place
The loanee no. 30 was their biggest threat and biggest cheat when feining injury, limping off and sprinting back on.
