Nobody else seems to have started a thread, so here it is. My prediction: Town 0-0 Coventry, attendance 5021
managerless coventry visit the meadow tomorrow night. rumour has it that paul ince may be appointed tomorrow or soon after, and you can bet coventry players will be out to impress. tomorrows game will not be easy, scunny proved that. results yeovil 1 cov 1 cov 1 sheff u 1 cov 2 bury 2 crewe 1 cov 0 cov 1 steve 2 tranny 2 cov 0 league cov p6 w0 d3 L2 f5 a 7 gd-4 p3 shr p6 w1 d2 L3 f5 a7 gd-2 p5 i think it will be a close game and i go for a 0-0 draw att 7133 sorry if i have stepped on any toes
Snap again but I will go for a lower gate......4927 Goaless draw......could be seen as a point gained????
I cannot make this one due to work but I think we can bounce back from Saturday (with a few decisive changes made by GT) and go for a solid but unspectacular 1-0 win. As I cannot see any of our players scoring after Saturday perhaps Coventry will help us with an own goal. Attendance 6550.
one of the talking points is will gt play 4-5-1 with morgan up front, or revert to 4-4-2 and play el tel alongside our marv. this wouldappear to be his only option, in the hope everyone is playing for their shirts tonight. what changes should be made in defence and midfield. i say this quite seriously if town cannot get points against coventry and a possible point at hartlepool, then we are in deep doo doo. aso hw much longer is gt going to hack it at town whilst being robbed by the board of being able to pay league 1 wages to league 1 players doing league 1 performances. how do we attract new blood if we are not paying decent wages. i believe town have the money- where you may ask has the following gone? £250k sale of youth gk to everon £87k fa cup run £unknown league cup run and where is the collins money going? i am not really knocking roland and his chubb locked wallet, but if we are to stay in league 1 gt needs an element of cash now! i do not think gt has spent any money on players pre season has he? i am urging roland to do something really novel, spend a little on good players wages, after all if our existing players were on performance related pay, only weale's wages would have been paid on saturday! so cme on roland go easy on the vintage port and pay up!
Well well AJ...... "ye doth changeth thy tune".....its pretty good saving money and being top of the league, but not so good when you are bottom of it though is it, Yes football's football and not a business as they say...and I too say its good to try and be prudent, but sometimes you have to get the players suitable to the environment and that means spending a bit more on wages to get them, We had good gates all last year, we should have expected a percentage to go to team building having won promotion, but GT hasn't spent anything at all on team improvements. and another thing, GT will never leave or get the sack, because he's the one thats being paid well to keep a reasonable team on a low budget and earn the higher salary himself, it may be a all well and good plan for Rowland, until gate numbers start to fall, then he will jump on 'all the Chairman's bandwagon' and tell the fans "how can we be a successful club if no one turns up to support us"!.......(from his new Villa in Jamaica).... and where is the collins money going?....on a swimming pool, near Montego bay..
tinned hats i remember we had this debate last season, i am not asking roland to bankrupt the club but to pay league 1 wages to those who deserve it, just weale so far. by the way i have more faith in those who have a villa in coleham, rather than jamaica
Well two nil up at 23 mins. The second goal was great curling shot around the outside of the wall, either cleverly or luckily deflected into the nrt by Richards. Great crowd here tonight and we're on top of the game with some major changes to the squad.
oh kds 4-0 i think aj is belatedly in love again. come on you shrews, even our marv is amongst them. well played shrews. roland put your wallet away in kingston, jamaica!
As GT said "chalk and cheese" compared to Saturday. Difficult to fault anyone apart from the odd mistake. There was much more bite in the side. Unfortunately, I would maintain that GT's changes were reactive rather than proactive and if these changes had been made on Saturday we might have got something then. Jacobson and Hector should have played before last night. Wildig for Wright I didn't see coming but he did a good job playing more centrally than he has done previously. The Coventry centre back will have nightmares about Morgan for days to come.
well what a differance, lets be honest though and say from the start Coventry were very poor, probably one of the worst sides to visit here for a long time, no motivation, and that reflected on their league possition.. but, it just goes to prove our lads can play a bit if fired up and if Morgan can produce form like that for the rest of the season it will stand us in good stead, to be honest 7-0 would have probably reflected the game better,Jacobson and Grandison were tighter at the back, Parrys crosses and passing where pin point, and Darren Jones header was a delight...we have now got to bottle that form and bring it back out at the weekend...but it proves we can do it if called upon!!
Been off here for a while - for no particular reason but hope you missed me, or even noticed. Anyway - that was much better. After the Scunthorpe debacle it was good to see us passing and moving again. Thought I'd dreamed all the good things that have happened under Turner and woken up to find we were still a team of half-interested players hitting long balls into channels with Simpson or Peters in charge. Wildig in centre mid with Richards wide left was a great move. I thought it was time to give Wildig a start but didn't see how it would work if we stuck him out wide. Well done on that one GT. Would have liked to see Doble get 20 minutes running at a demoralised team once we were 4-0 up. Not sure why he's there if he doesn't get on then. But we pretty much packed up once the 4th went in so maybe it's better he stayed off.
We missed you, welcome back to the forum I was surprised at the set-up after hearing the team line up we expected Parry on the left and Wildig on the right, but the resulting squad worked well. Wright failed to do much when he came on and I have heard that people in the East Stand were barking at him, I think he might be sat on the bench slightly more this season. What was the reason for Taylor coming on instead of Doble? Only thing I can think of was giving him a run out in preparation for a posible start instead of Wright?
