Shrewd Levy works his magic yet again!

Discussion in 'The Premier League' started by Hoddle is a god, Jul 8, 2015.

  1. I've just seen the news that Spurs have agreed to host 2 NFL games each year over a 10 year contract, at their new 61,000-seater stadium.

What a shrewd move by Levy!

Whilst Arsenal floundered around in the wilderness during all the years that it took them to pay back the debt on their stadium, Levy will have the Spurs debt paid off in double-quick time, and we'll be able to push on for our first league title in several years.

No doubt, you lads will want to join me in congratulating Levy and the Spurs board on being so wonderfully switched-on, and to offering our chairman the very high praise that he is due for being such a shrewd businessman.

Again, lads, keep a lid on the wumming, eh?

  3. I have no idea. But the news is that the Lane's new stadium will host two NFL matches each year for 10 years.

I reckon Levy will probably ask for most of that up front, too, to further help defray the cost of the stadium.

Its a stupid and utterly pointless deal that will have zero benefit for Tottenham Hotspur. The NFL fans are strongly against it too.

As I said on the Spurs board, if this was a good idea, a club with an American owner who already had an NFL franchise and who are well ahead of everyone in terms of commercial deals, would have done this.

They havent, its never even been considered because, nobody is interested.

Levy is awful at getting commercial revenues. Spurs' is actually lower than Galatasaray ffs.

Maybe the fact spurs now have it, tells you everything you need to know....

The 61000 seats is a very convenient number, can't think why they didn't go for a nice round 60k <whistle>

They might fill it for the NLD or when United are in town but thats it. There will be no European football of note played there afterall (no dig, just the reality... You will struggle with the financial restrictions the sradium will bring, ask Arsenal).

I disagree, to an extent. The new Sky deal, which will bring considerably more revenue to all Premiership clubs, will go some way towards alleviating that burden. Yes, it will have an effect, but not as bad as some may think.

The new TV deao is being overplayed. It wont make a jot of difference as you will just pay over the odds as every European club is tasked with fleecing PL clubs dry. The whole world knows about the deal and its even caused FFP to be changed.

We obviously have overpaid in the past. Albeit that was not net spend. However, the lesson has been learnt, I think. So, I doubt that will be a factor for us. I think Levy has costed this all out and will manage it just fine.

No European football would be what United had last season, actually.

Arsenal didn't suffer at all financially while building their stadium, despite making a bit of a balls up of the sponsorship deal.
There's more money in the league now and I doubt we'll repeat their mistake with the naming rights, to be honest.

They suffered massively. Financial constraints prevented them from attracting better players and the lack of success that followed meant they were unable to keep any quality they did have. They were very fortunate to remain a top 4 side.

Spurs dont have the luxury of being a top side to start with (top 4) so are already at a disadvantage. Its going to be a tough decade for spurs.

They spent a ****load of money and outspent everyone below them.
There were virtually no financial constraints. It's a complete myth.
Their transfer spending and wages went up.

Actually dumbo, perhaps you should take a look at our total net spend, well below most clubs. Anyways, Spurs, with or without constraints will always be a **** club in our shadow hoping to be us, so doesn't really matter. You could have a 100k stadium and sell out 7 days of the week and you'd still be that rubbish team called Tottenham ****espurs, always looking up at Arsenal.

    Forever in our shadows.

I know people don't like to use it but our net spend on transfers was pretty much zero during that period, right up until we bought Ozil

    So, so angry! <laugh>

Your net spend is irrelevant, as the figures have so many "undisclosed" fees that everyone counts as £0, for some reason.
You've spent more than virtually everyone in the division and continue to do so.
That's why you can have people like Denilson, Diaby and Miyachi on your books forever and forget they exist.

Well what's not irrelevant is the fact we ended up above you every year, that's very very relevant..... :D :D :D you sold Bale, we signed Mesut Ozil, Mesut Ozil....

Oh and stating facts, that you are **** and will forever be below us is not anger, as I said, it's facts, unless I said anything wrong? Could you point out to me when you recently finished above Arsenal? :D :D :D

Ozil's ****. Real rejected him for a reason. He goes missing in games against better sides, like he did at WHL.
