Since we beat QPR 4 v 1 on 9th Feb, we have taken just 9 points from 14 PL matches. 2 wins (Newcastle & Wigan), 3 draws (Norwich, Southampton & Man C) and 9 defeats. Are we as good as we think? In my opinion, the squad is stronger, but we are on a terrible run. We need something against West Brom - that is far more important than the game in Romania on Thursday.
No NJ, we didn't expect to win but Taff is correct - we expected a performance at the very least. Not much to ask for really with the money we've spent and the wages they earn.
Last season was last season. This season is this season. Mixing both together for form analysis is what ITV commentators do, just saying
Well, as pointed out on another thread after the first 7 games of last season we had 8 pts. first two games this season are against Man utd and spurs,if we get 8 pts from our next 5 games does that mean we will finish higher ?? you can justify all kinds of things and make it look like there is form or not form, we really need to look at right here dont we ? There was a reason for a drop off in form last season, we all knew it didn't we? we were safe ,won a cup and the players were mentally on the beach
You asked a question "Did you expect us to beat Man utd home and Spurs away ?" I was not comparing statistics - I asked 2 questions: 1) Do you think 9 points out of 42 is a good return? 2) Did you expect Cardiff to beat Man City? Look forward to your response to both
Last season we had the following points tally against Man U and Spurs: Man U (H) 1 pt Spurs (A) 0pts We are 1 point down on last season - and I fully expect us to pull that back in the coming months as we are a far better team than we were last year
Answer to one . Its impossible to give a full answer because our season effectively ended after winning the cup and achieving prem safety, if your asking is it acceptable to me then the answer is yes because we ensured our prem staus , won a cup and finished in our highest position for 30 odd years, if we had gained a fraction of the points on your skewered stats then we would have been in the champions league! Answer to two . anything is possible in football, you should know that having seen the swans beat man city in their first season
It would be taff, but it's still a tough place to go. I mentioned in another thread that we had an "easy" start last season and accumulated points quickly by October. this year will be different and we will be playing catch up - which is an added pressure as no one likes to be in the bottom three. Don't panic!
As is said every season "lets see where we are by xmas to get a better idea of how our season is going" !
Exactly ! after 10 games then we know where we are , people are in flap mode right now and we need to be better than that as fans . We can be objective about displays but I personally find this thread distasteful and dis respectful . Of course what ever people choose to write is fine but I think its the OP that should "wake up and smell the coffee " Give it a few weeks before doom mongering at least
Well, no need to panic we have got our hardest start in the three years we've been in the PL. Lets just see how we fair in the next six games then we know what were up against. I pit us down as a 1-1 draw, and this was in me best anticipation. We move on now to WBA where to me it's vital that we get something, not necessarily a win, we just need to stop the rot.
And Laudrup has a bit more experience of the prem under his belt now so hope he steps up a gear to with his tactics !
