    Lads like Longstaff, Roberts etc...
It would give them the valuable experience now, so they are better players for the Champiinship next year.

Yes. I'd love to see if anyone (Longstaff) can look any more lost than Diame does on a football pitch.

He genuinely wasn't good enough though and was put in a ridiculous situation because of a goalkeeper crisis. He would normally have left the club without playing a single first team game.

No imo, we still have a chance to get out of this. We barely have a fit for purpose PL team as it is 1 to 11. To start throwing kids like longstaff and co into the mix of these pressure games would not be ideal.

And that's part of the vicious cycle we are stuck in. Never give the kids a chance because we are battling relegation, looking to get promoted or pushing for Europe (rember that???).
We never give kids a fair go and miss out on decent players for next to no money. Gomez at Liverpool cost £3.5m as they are willing to buy a youngster and then actually play him.

Give longstaff a go, he can't do any worse!

But we gave him NO chance! Yes it is clear he was not good enough in the end but am sure the booes after the first game shattered him. During that period the fans should have sung his name.

That is why we don't play youngsters

We should play them now so they have more experience in the Championship when we get relegated.

If they weren’t considered ready or good enough to go out on loan to at least Championship sides we shouldnt be playing them.

Do think we need to dramatically improve our youth development though.

Longstaff should now be starting in place of Diame or add him to a midfield 3.

He is a class act all round!

I can't believe that there isn't at least one player on our books somewhere that could step up and make a massive difference to the team. We are so lacking a cutting edge in midfield its unreal. Getting proper ****ed off with Rafa's tactics now like. Same formation week in week out, unwilling to mix it up or even change it up during games until 70mins generally. Is he just trying to prove a point to fat mike or summit or what, I can't quite figure it out. Something has to change soon tho. Ashley won't be going anywhere anytime soon and Rafa is likely to be hear until the end of the season but unless he changes his approach he's gonna be ****ing off and leaving us in the championship. At this rate we're gonna break the mackems record of going down with 19 points or whatever it was FFS.

Sorensen got another hat-trick last night defo worth a shot in the first team, out of our 4 strikers Joselu it top scorer after 10 games with 2 goals.

Not one of our strikers is even close to being a goal every games player, start blooding the youth for next season in the Championship.

His first game was as a sub against Chelsea, and everyone thought he was a hero then cos he managed to hold out and we won the game.

It was only later against Tottenham that everyone realised he was horseshit.

To be fair for a keeper like him (i.e. someone who currently can't get into the Scunthorpe first team), managing to play in the Premier league vs Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham is something way out of his league and he should be grateful for that.

And so got on his back! Very helpful!

People forget that as a youngster you are likely to make mistakes almost every game for a period of time.

Also this was just one example of how the fans get on a young players back as soon as they show they are not a world class player at the age of 19.

Did people really get on his back? People were more just concerned that our keeper situation was so bad that we'd had to turn to a kid who clearly wasn't up to it.

He played for a while at Port Vale and he's now at Scunthorpe aged 25, so he was clearly never anywhere near Prem quality. Although admittedly that's significantly better than 99% of our kids, who just end up playing for Bedlington Terriers, Whitley Bay, Jarrow Roofing etc.

No we should just bang them out on loan, then once they do well we should sell them or let them rot in the 23's. Genius.
