I am in two minds on this myself. The fact that we have a 9 day gap until our next league makes me think we should. But of course remember the third round games over the last two seasons which have cost us a serious injury. And of course the fourth or fifth round games if we get through will hold us up in the league, meaning we will possibly drop further of the pace. Maybe we should have a poll on this.
Chance of a bit of a cup run would do a lot for our collective belief (and rep). Personally I'd give it all we've got and see what happens. If 2012/13 was meant to be an Rs nightmare, we're pretty much done for anyway.
Full squad on Saturday...and/but include Cisse for shooting practice.... .if it is a draw...weakened team in the replay. That would be my answer
The players need another game before the Spurs match. WBA in the cup is ideal. There is a little matter of some pay-back for their win on the back of some dodgy decisions on Boxing Day.
gonna say no to this. Get the players together and tell the other 13 or so that they have a point to prove to the first XI. DO NOT risk injuries etc ala faurlin....... Dont care about the cup...want to stay in the prem personally. Nice time for Uncle harry to do a bit more coaching and training!
Agree Queens - use the squad players and possibly some younsters like Magri, and tell them to give it 100%.
Back to back wins would seriously lift confidence. The extended rest period to the spuds game means that the players will get an extended rest period. Would play Faurlin to give him a game
Players like Park and Dyer who are just back from injury should play along with DJ. Mix it up a bit. Its not as if we have a settled 1st team is it?
I understand the need to get a run going, but if he played Adel and he got injured, what would everyone say then?
Maybe Fabio and Traore on the left side. My national side is playing that way, we basically have 2 wingers that interchange during the game. For me, the real question is Granero. Should Harry try to build his momentum and try to get another great game or leave him on the bench, not risking him getting injured but risking his drop in form again.
What is a full strength team? Who should be dropped and who should we replace them with? We don't have the luxury of a Man Utd or Man Citeh with their depth of quality so I reckon the usual suspects will be run out. I won't be too miffed if we don't win, better to lose to a Premiership side than some random non-league team like Vauxhall Motors. We haven't had a decent cup run for decades so one more year won't bother me and if it gives Harry a chance to bring fringe players in or help injured players get match fitness then I don't mind if our "strongest" players are rested. Having got the Chelscum result utterly wrong I won't call the WBA game but any win is always a pleasure so here's hoping.
