Should we make a move for Lampard?

Discussion in 'Tottenham Hotspur' started by Hoddle is a god, Jan 7, 2013.

  1. I reckon he's got at least two more seasons in him at the top level.

I'm not saying he'll get regular football in our first XI, but he'd definitely be an option off the bench.

If we got him for £0, I doubt many of us would complain? Can't imagine he'd be demanding top wage, either.

He's quality and anyone would be insane to say no. (Chelsea!)

He's still got so much to offer. The impression I've been getting is that he wants top dollar wherever he's heading. Therefore his wages would be out of the question for us.

  4. Not for me.
I agree that he may well have a couple of seasons in the PL left in him, but too much baggage - and not just around his waistline!! And he is also rather too close to 'arry.

Two words and one of them's off.
I'm sure he'll enjoy his retirement at QPR with his uncle, as long as they stay up.

He's quality and even though he is a Chelsea legend, I've always liked him.

Considering AvB tried to freeze him out at Chelsea I can't see him wanting him at Spurs though.

There would be a certain vindication if we signed him, Andre benched him, and then Frank realised he can;t get his friends to whine to Levy so he gets games and the manager gets the sack.

I don't think we have a hope. He WILL want top wages, most Bosmans do

So for two reasons I say no.

He wouldn't come (due to club, AVB, and wages)
We couldn't afford the catering bill

i think alot depends on wether Huddlestone moves. Cant see our kitchen having the capabilities of accomodating for both of them.

<laugh> SL ...beat me to a similar quip!

Should we make a move for Lampard?

Yes...in completely the opposite direction!, so he's got 2 yrs left, half of whatever he's got left will be on the treatment table. He was also captain of the side that lost to QPR, was rubbish in the World Club final and hasn't been great in Europe, just to offset the goals he scored in big wins recently. Good player still at times, one very good game v Everton, hardly grounds to sign him up though, we need someone who'll give us a full season.

Can't see the Manchesters or the goons wanting him, for the same reasons Chelsea don't no doubt...so why should we!

Never rated him much. He's never been more then an average midfield player IMO.

Having said that, he has worked hard at his game, and now has the knack of being in the right place at times with well judged runs into space.

However, Spurs already have at least two players (in that midfield position) that are, frankly, better then Frank.

I also doubt Lampard would add positive vibes to the dressing room at WHL despite all his experience.

Not only that, but we have a pile of midfield deadwood to shift already.

If he's good enough for baconbrain then he should be good enough for us. If it means he would bring Chelsea's luck to us then why not but seriously I don't think we should bring him here. Let's go for a young side with fresh talent. We have a young coach who seems to know what he's doing and who has surprised me a bit so no to Lamps.
