Should we give Timmy Cool the rest of the season?

  1. He was excellent yesterday. People were saying "he didn't have many saves to make", but they obviously didn't see the bigger picture.

He played with confidence which he lacked sometimes during the start of the season, which was there before the season but coming to the PL must have shaken the lad a bit. However, the 15 or so games did him well, and he must see Harpers latest injury as his big chance to prove himself, and that early save against Hernandez must have really helped the lads confidence.

He did what i loved him for before this season, and that's his willingness to comand his entire box, and his sharpness. He did it better than i've seen Harper ever do it. He's made some vital saves over the course of this season, his save against Arsenal was awesome.

I think he has the potential to be our Gk for life, and he can be better than Harper. It will be a mistake to ever let him go, and i'm sorry to Forster but Krul has proven himself capable at this level, where as Forster has been playing mostly against league one quality opposition.

So unless Forster wants to be our 3rd choice, i suggest he has another loan spell, because i've always believed in Krul, and whenever i've watched Forster, i haven't been that impressed to be quite honest. For a bloke that's 6ft 6 he doesn't look very comfortable in the air, and makes alot of mistakes with his handling. Ofcourse he can improve but i see alot more in Krul.

Give Krul the rest of the season, and give him the chance to battle Harper properly for the first place spot. We're perhaps 3 points from almost definite safety, and Krul handled the pressure of an important game against the best team in the league, and against a strike force of Rooney and Hernandez.

Even though Harper is the more experienced, Krul positions himself better in his box and his instinct is better. There are things which Krul needs to work on, but there are things that Harper cannot do aswell as Krul.

Krul had a couple of bad games during his spell, but Harper hasn't exactly been 100% consistant either. I've never seen Krul play as badly as Harper did against Stoke.

Give Krul the Blackpool game, and if he plays well again, give him the rest of the season, to his and our own benifit.

Now about your article. Your criticism of Forster is ludicrous! His commandment in the air and from crosses is a mile better than Harper's and Krul's. That's Forster main strength as well as his shot stopping. He very rarely makes mistakes and the only ones he does make is due to his poor kicking, which will hopefully improver in time!

  4. Well that's what i've seen from when ever i've watched him, and remember, he's been playing against L1 quality teams, Krul has had to play against much tougher opponents than ****ing Hiberian and Dundee Utd!

If he keeps consecutive clean sheets it would be very harsh to drop him.

With regards to Forster, we can't really comment as we haven't seen him much first hand.

Krul wasn't as impressive in League One as Forster was and it doesn't what league your in sometimes, if you make top quality saves and show good reactions and decision making in lower leagues, then there is a good chance he will make it in the Prem. I personally feel he is probably better than Krul, but both are very good!

  8. Well it'll be ****ing ridiculous if Krul goes out on loan, but this is why we should give Krul the rest of the season. He has been excellent for us, and yesterday put in an amazing performance.

On Football Manager I always sell Harper to Spurs at the end of the first season for £1 million (and you save £30k p/w on wages) and let Forster and Krul compete for the GK spot. God bless that game.

Nobody commented on your article so you bumped it? <doh>

I hope Timmy Cool doesnt catch on either.

If he continues to perform then he can stay in goal, if he doesnt then give Harper the place. Thats the way football should be, players picked on form.

We might have to, if Harper requires surgery. News is coming tomorrow if he does need surgery. Hopefully he won't be out for too long.

  13. Yep, and since Harper missed a game in which Krul played excellently and kept a clean sheet, Krul deserves another couple of games atleast.

Forster not good in the air? Did you just make that up to fit in with your argument? Thats probably one of the best thing about his game, most corners he comes rushing out and not only punches but catches the ball!

what WILL happen, is Pardew will work with them all in training all summer, evaluate their performances there and in frendlies and then decide what will happen.

p.s. It wont be a ****ing joke if Krul goes out on loan.

We have 3 very good keepers at present who will all attend pre-season training and the club will decide who goes on loan.

I'd like to see Krul on loan at Celtic next season to provide a better comparison between him and Forster.

  18. He's not bad in the air, but doesn't look comfortable enough for his heigh. He's like Williamson at times. Williamsons 6ft 2-3 and looks like losing a header to someone 6 inches small to him at times.

I'll phone up Andy woodman and tell him to disregard his lifetime's experience as a goalkeeper/goalkeeping coach, Tash has watched a couple of SPL games and Forster's not good enough.
