    Just for one game?

We're safe and if he gets 2 more bookings (which he is well capable of) in the last 3 games he goes into next season with a 3 game ban, and we do not need that. It seems strange but I think if he doesnt get booked against Brum we should give Guthrie/Gosling/Richardson one of the last 2 games, maybe Chelsea where we dont expect anything anyway.

Now I'm one for playing your strongest team every game but we have nothing significant to play for this season and missing the first 2 or 3 games of next season would be far from ideal.

Thoughts? I'm not sure myself but it seems like a worthy risk IMO.

They should really scrap card related bans for the beginning of each season.

You make a valid point nevertheless.

Play him until he gets another card, then drop him. Definitely want him against Birmingham to maximise our chances of 3 points.

If Gosling's available I'd like to see him play. I suppose Guthrie didn't deserve to be dropped either. I'm not sure how happy Cheik would be though so dropping him for all three would be harsh. Perhaps play him against Chelsea, if he picks up a booking leave him out for the last game.

Agree with you I would also play him until he recieves one more booking and then drop him
even if that results in a spanking at Chelsea <ok>
we need our best possible team so we can hit the ground running next season.

Guthrie and Gosling likely out for season but maybe we should put Barton and Nolan in Midfield with Ferguson and Jonas on wings.

I would play him regardless against Birmingham. If he gets booked, dont play him v Chelsea and make a tough decision on the WBA game. If he doesnt get booked then definitely play him against WBA and make a tough decision on the Chelsea game instead. We should prioritise the "easy games" (no offence to WBA/Brum)

How bogus have some of his bookings been this year though? Especially in the latter half of the season; ever since his sending off he's been such a target.

If he did get 15, that would be a PL first I believe. Quite incredible how often he gets booked for how good a tackler he normally is.

He's got a worse reputation with the referees than even Barton...

I'd still dispute the sending off to be honest, one of the best tackles I've seen.

He won the ball in the tackle at Scunthorpe and he isn't a dirty player, you see thugs getting away with a lot more than Cheik does every week.

I know right?! It can be a harmless second half foul, his first of the match, and bam! Shown a yellow without even a warning.

Play him vs Brum and if he gets booked rest him. If not keep playing him till he is cos he's bound to pick up another one before the end
