Faye and McShane will both be available on Saturday.

Given the "knife thru butter" experience at The Reebok on Saturday, should the defensive personnel be changed?

Personally, I would definitely like to see Faye come back in. Although not the tallest defender he is hard as rock and would be ideally suited to combat Zigic.

I suspect the manager might push his son forward into the defensive midfield role and play the big Senegalese defender.

Does Zigic play anymore? Because didn't Lee Clarke call him a disgrace and say how poor his effort was in training claiming it was the worst he has ever seen? Or have I imagined that..

Yeah he was publicly dropped for 'poor training'.

If Faye is available I'd maybe throw him in there. I reckon he'll probably play Alex in midfield unless Fathi is suddenly fit enough to start.

I really hope Bruce doesn't go to DM, his distribution was awful there and he didn't win any headers either, not sure why we would keep Bruce in the side he was awful against Bolton as was Evans. Evans would drop out for Boyd for me and bring in Faye for Bruce. Can't say we missed Faye as the central centre back Hobbs was good against Bolton for me not at fault for any of their goals, however Hobbs, Faye, Chester is a far better central partnership.

Zigic was dropped, but played in their last 2 games, and (I think) scored on Saturday

After Saturday I agree but I don't think SB would drop Alex to accommodate him, that would mean dropping either Hobbs or Chester, more likely the latter as he's looked a bit knackered of late, or pushing Alex into midfield, square pegs and all that, which is the more likely scenario.

Are Lambo's original fears of nepotism beginning to creep to the surface?

Even if Fathi is half fit I'd play him in front of Bruce in midfield.

As long as my arsehole points south Alex Bruce isn't a midfielder.

McShane has been playing emmence this Season but I'd like to see Faye come in. He wins 99.9% of his headers, Hobbs and Chester like free roaming around him and of course, he's the biggest threat from set pieces that we have.

    Stockdale

    Chester Faye Hobbs

    Elmo Meyler Bruce Quinn Brady

    Gedo Boyd

This would be my bet for the line-up.

Mine too, however I can see Macca starting in that left centre back position.

I'd have Faye in for Bruce, Birmingham are pretty direct so I'd have him in there to win his headers.

And I'll be seriously disappointed him Brucey finds a place for his son in midfield again, he's never a midfielder in a million years.

If Bruce jnr is in midfield, Stevie boy is being struck off my Christmas card list.

I'd stick Faye back in defence too, with Hobbs and Chester either side of him.

Didn't Zigic score at the weekend or was that my imagination.. he's about 6 ft 8 and as thin as as kate moss..

I would like to see Faye back, he's arguably our biggest threat from attacking set peices too, i can't see alex in midfield.. surely not?

IMO.....YES IF ALL 5 are fit, but not for what happened at Bolton. My reasoning would be that Crystal Palace are far more mobile and quick and Bruce jnr and Hobbs are more suited to that game.
Birmingham with King and Zigic then Hull City would be better served using both Faye and McShane. imo
