we were top and top 4 for ages, there has been some pretty "tame" differences of attitude and expression over the last couple of weeks of how we have performed and the disappointment of losing out on automatic promo and now the worry of not even making the playoff's! and some points have made good reading We have 46 fixtures and the order we play them is significant, take the top 12 teams current now (City make it 13) had we played them all in our first 12 games and the results had been as we finished up after 12 games on 21 points. Played out the rest of the second half of the season for a further 23 pts we would still have been on played 23 with 44 pts ..... would we have likely been higher or lower than 6th in top 6 now. .... ??? my point being who we play and when is always a factor. At this point we have the same points as we finished on last season ....54 Last season our last 23 games were lost 10 drew 6 won 7 for 26 points should this season result in the same then our final tally would be 70 points ( 44 after 23 games plus 26 ) and so far we have 10. to reach 70 means in the next 12 games we need 16 points ! so a fair assumption might be we win 4 draw 4 and lose 4 = that is 16 pts and 70 on board and ALL SHOULD be happy as no one expected that!!! so = POSITIVE! HOWEVER we did a bit better than expected, and the biggest disappointment comes after great expectations. From finishing better than 18th, start of seasons posters predictions, we expected to go up, top and top 4 for ages, then play off's whirly around the grey matter, now its up in the air and this fosters NEGATIVE RESPONSES , but until the points left are insufficient to claim 6th or better then we should remain positive, although some will harbour negativity whatever the state of affairs... one half of the world ....THE PESSIMISTS ...will always find something negative within positivity!!!!!
just been looking through the pre season predictions 7 of the 13 predictors had wolves lower than 10th 7 predicted Sheff U BE IN BOTTOM 6 6 said Sunderland be lower than 9th 12 had Millwall in relegation zone everybody said burton bottom 3 . only one had them as high as 22nd 6 said Hull top 6 and 3 said finish 7th!
The feel good factor from earlier this season and the dazzling football to accompany it is now a distant memory. We need to be positive and try and get behind the team to get enough points to finish in the top 6 and see where that takes us. I think that in terms of overall expectations we are still ahead of the game being where we are, but it's been difficult to keep the momentum going with the LC run.
I'm back and so the tide will turn. 3-0 at half-time vs Wed and may the good times return and the push for a playoff spot continues unabated.
