I'm not saying we will win it but joking and wind ups aside I think it's a tad harsh Spurs stand to miss out having finished 4th. I know there is an argument to say that they bottled 3rd and clubs are aware that only 3 are guaranteed CL blah blah but In 02/03 I would have been gutted if we'd missed out on CL having finished 4th. European Champions should have a right to defend their crown, that is something I couldn't fault UEFA for in 2005 but based on a 38 game season you'd have to feel a bit peeved. That said I am sure some Spurs fans will be quietly confident Bayern would win tomorrow thus throwing the dilemma out the question. Spurs would only be in the CL to make up the numbers, but surely they are a far better prospect than Motherwell for instance? Maybe take one place away from Scotland after the Rangers debacle (IF Chelsea win tomorrow). No offence but outside Rangers and Celtic no-one really gives a **** about the SPL
Not bothered to be honest! I think the system is pretty fair as it is. Harder to win the Champs League than come fourth imo.
To be fair Spurs 2nd string battered Hearts. Putting my neutral hat on I'd much rather see Spurs in the CL than an also ran or minnow, call me elitist but they are a far stronger outfit than 70% of the teams that will qualify for the CL
By the way, I'm not sure any of them would share the same view if the shoe were on the other foot so in the word of OUCH, **** em!
You don't always get past Liverpool though do you? I seem to remember Luis Garcia scoring a particularly good goal against you once?
Hopefully there will be a strong referee, Chelsea`s compulsive diving, time wasting and general vulgarity could spoil a beautiful day for Bayern.
Hypothetically if there was a Euro nation league with 38 games/season, the 2004 Greek team would struggle to make top 10. Yet they won the Euros. Average teams can have good runs on cup competitions, which is why outsiders often win them.
Drogba can spend 89 minutes on the floor for all I care, as long as that other minute is spent taking apart Bayern's defence to score the winner.
