In the news at the moment, Terry's racial abuse trial been scheduled after the Euros. This means that the truth will not be out before the tournament, so should he be captain. This raises issues of innocent before proven guilty or should they try to move trial. look how long Barney's has taken. Just as an aside, Sky have been showing Terry's rant all morning with his mouth blanked out. But look at the black Chelsea player in front of him: he looks round at Terry, then his lips become pressed together...a sign of disapproval.
He is a vile man, but if the case had been heard by the FA, like the Suarez one, rather than the Crown Court, it would have been settled by now. Seems rather daft this way round.
Yes, off field matters should be forgotten as soon as they enter the pitch I hate him as a man, don't get me wrong, but he is a great leader on the pitch
The police get involved if someone makes a formal complaint...doesn't have to be the protagonists just someone who was offended. Once they are involved, it becomes impossible to pull back to an 'in house' investigation.
Off field matters should have nothing to do with his ability to captain the team. Keep him in the job.
But this can't be categorised as an off-field matter when the incident happened on the field and potentially impacts a good percentage of the people he's meant to be leading, surely?
Yes, I am almost certain that he will remain for the Euros (and then probably give it up/retire from internationals). It would not be right to take it off him before the trial.
Nobody should be considered guilty before a case is proven. However, John Terry is a prime role model in football, and he has shown that is isn't particularly good at being so. I think the trial should be conducted before the European Championships, in order to get the issue out of the way, good or bad.
He's had the captaincy removed before so should be used to it. The captain represents the country and I think it reasonable to appoint another man whilst he is awaiting trial. No one is suggesting he shouldn't play for his country as he hasn't been found guilty, but would be sensible of him to remove himself from the captaincy to avoid embarrassment all round. Best thing would be for the trial to be brought forward.
This. Personal opinion of the man aside (I don't like him) I've seen the footage without the covered mouth, and its difficult to interpret him saying anything other than what is alleged.
first of all, innocent until proven guilty, second, should not go anyway as he has been shyte for the last 2 years- a glacier is quicker than him and he has the turning speed of the qe2. at least 6 centerbacks should be ahead of him-lescot,jones,cahill,king dawson and not forgetting a certain aaran martin
That's a somewhat odd statement unless you're actually John Terry and therefore know EXACTLY what happened.....?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0z_Y2dk-aQ&feature=related I have brains. He called Ferdinand a ****ing black ****. If Terry goes to the Euros, I'm supporting Germany. Put legal process and actual personal motivations to one side here; the guy's done it on live TV to an audience of millions. The fact that I can even post the clip is all the evidence you need to kick him out.
