I actually think that the fan pressure to drop SWP is the most important thing that we can discuss on this board. Hughes has given into fan power this season in bringing on Adel and Cisse when he seemed reluctant to use them and was as usual painfully slow to react to the game as it unfolded.

The eternal optimists on this board who always want to support all individuals in the team ‘no matter what’ would normally be right but in this case it is doing more harm than good. SWP has been given more then enough chances and can be allowed no more. We cannot carry a player who does not contribute where his position needs it when we are bottom of the league (and excuse about playing top 10 sides is flawed- at this early stage of the season a significant reason that these teams are in the top 10 is because they took 3 points off of us!!)

Honestly think the SWP subject cannot be over played until he is out of the team. If we can force Hughes in to making the correct decision then we will be doing a good thing for the club.

agree he should be dropped & he's done nothing to suggest keeping him in there, at gunners sat he was abysmal & couldn't believe it when he was on teamsheet, he broke our attacks up passing poor, we had mackie & fraulin & also think ephraim could have done more than him, for me he's got to be a non starter for sunday.

I can definitely see that he's done some good defensively but have no doubt in my mind that he should make way for the next 3 games where the onus is on us to win rather than not lose.

No chance of him starting on Sunday, even Hughes isn't that stupid.

Yes, good point. I think then we need a Should Park be dropped as well thread, as personally I think both should be dropped, but if I had to choose one of them to play it would be SWP.

It's not his fault he keeps on getting picked. I'll never forget sitting with my Brother in law last year and him screaming when Bosingwa was sent off. Thing was it wasn't so much that he'd been sent off for something innocuous, it was more that why did Bosingwa have to go anywhere near SWP as he wouldn't and couldn't do anything with the ball anyway!!

    Yes.

Just before he was substituted last week, he gave the ball straight to an Arsenal player on 4 consecutive occasions in our half.

Mackie has to be worth a start instead.

Mackie instead of SWP.....But it would not surprise me if SWP starts and Hughes does one of his late subs when it's to late.

SWP has to be dropped. His performance bar one decent cross against Arsenal was really poor. No need to comment on his form in all previous games. I'm not so sure about dropping Park, if he's fit to return, for Mackie. We all know Mackie's limitations and also his strengths. I do feel that he is more of an impact sub for us at the moment and brings an energy to the team when we're struggling. Park has been played out of position on the left for the majority of the season and it may be worth giving him longer with a start on the right again. Having said that I would love to see Taarabt and Hoilett out wide with Granero and Diakite or Faurlin in the middle. Zamora and Cisse up top. We really should just being putting out an attacking side against both Reading and Southampton and let them worry about us. But I'm not sure Hughes will see it this way.

PS - Thanks for the warm welcome to the forum.

Damn right he should be dropped, he's contributing little to our game. Just hope that MH eventually realises, or that SWP will somehow turn it round, but dont hold your breath on that one.

It seemed he had got his act together pre season and I was looking forward to the "new" SWP, but he has done nothing this season. What frustrates me most of all is that for a change we have lots of options i.e. Hoilett, Mackie Tarbs Faurlin etc. etc. Mackie for me is the one that should be on in his place because he at least is Blue and White through and through and there is always some outcome to his play. I was excited when we signed SWP, but how long can it keep going on for such a poor return. Also the other problem is who else will want him if we don't. He is unfortunately in the Rob Hulse, Bothroyd and Barton club of total under achievers. Expensive failures. Maybe we shouldn't have panicked on the last day of last season and looked at out of contract players available on much lower wages after the window closed. Hindsight they say is a remarkable thing.

Even I find it impossible to defend SWP. DT would jump down my throat on this one, but as far as I can see he has never been fully in control of the ball in his entire career. If we need a harrying and chasing wide right player it would be Park for me (sorry Oslo). I have not seen Mackie play well in the Prem when he has started - definite last 20-30 minute man for me.

I really cant understand how he ever played for England. Were his performances in his England days really that much better than now? Has he really dropped that far?

    Haha, so aggressive. Cute.

Anyway he should obviously be dropped if Hoilett, Park and Taarabt are fit. Not honestly sure I'd prefer Mackie starting games over him though.

Stop with the insults please, you're hurting my feelings.

There's a saying somewhere about people of low intellect resorting to insults.
