I'm not saying that Dawson does a bad job when he deputizes for King, but I do think that Scotty would make a better captain, especially as he's been named as England captain. What do you guys think?
I've seen the one about him being England captain, but I've not seen the one about him being Club captain. If there is, perhaps the two threads could be merged?
I seem to remember this coming up at the start of the season(no sense merging it) and I said that I didn't think he should be because he'd have to be first choice and I saw Sandro challenging him for the defensive midfield place. I don't think that now! He'd be a great choice for captain but I think it works well with King captain and Dawson reserve captain at the moment. If King stays on for another season, I'd keep it as is, Parker plays like a captain with or without the armband.
I have to be honest and say that I don't know how vocal Scott is, I know he was the Spam captain, but there's hardly much choice there!
Notso he doesn't seem to be that vocal from what I see, I guess he lets his football do his talking. You know the type "do as I do" etc. Don't have a problem with him as captain we will still play the same way.
I think Scotty would be a better captain than Dawson or King. Let's face it, King is captain because the man is a legend, but that shouldn't be the reason we make him captain. And I like the idea of a DM being captain, because he is, quite literally, at the centre of all the action, and is best placed to see every aspect of play. I'm not sure if he's a vocal captain, but he certainly leads by example, and I can well imagine that he is hugely respected by not only his own team mates, but also by the opposition, and what ever he says to you, no matter how short it may be, will have more of an impact than a hundred words from a lesser player.
Disagree. Whatever his footballing ability, I think Dawson is a proper Captain. I like the way he gets the team huddled around before the start of the match and does some last minute geeing up. He is a more traditional leader.
Should that be a reason not to make him club captain, though, King, if he clearly is the best player to be captain?
Sorry guys, for those who've dismissed being vocal as not necessary, I don't agree, not all the time I'll concede, but where the flying **** was our captain Sunday, not one player could organise and rally the team that day, heads were abysmally down, doesn't that worry you?, it certainly does me. Ask yourself hypothetically if a John Terry type character might have helped in that situation. I don't think Parker reads the rest of the game well enough to organise, so if he's not vocal either, crap captain choice for me.
Had to laugh when I read this over the weekend, 'don't worry if you disagree Parker should be given the armband...he's most likely to pass it sideways to someone who knows what to do with it'!
Judging by parker's performance tonight he is not good enough to wear the shirt let alone captain an international side
Captain Parker should have steadied the ship after the equaliser there, plenty of shouting to keep focus and the bloody ball! and seen the game out, all over the shop. Captain material my arse.
What is this bloody cliche 'lead by example', give over, whatever that is, it does not make a captain. Decent captains in the true sense are very few and far between. Has anyone here been one for a start?
In the case of Terry, he acts as if he's captain - and by doing so undermines the person who is captain - when he doesn't have the armband.
