One man? ie Craig Whyte. Do any Rangers fans actually believe: A: Rangers should not be punished for the actions of Craig Whyte B: Rangers FC should be treated as a "Special case" as some have proposed C: This is all Craig Whyte's doing (and partly Sir Minty) Personally I don't see the logic in allowing a club to evade sanctions simply because the owner has fled the crime scene (although Whyte is actually still the owner despite what the Administrators say). If clubs could avoid or dilute punishment if the owner walked away then everyone would do the same thing. Imagine the owner of Dundee FC had walked away (or claimed so) before they were docked 20 odd points, would the SFL have gone easy on them because it was not Dundee FC's fault per se? Like it or not at this moment in time (and for the last 12 months) Craig Whyte IS Rangers FC. I would also say that Dermot Desmond IS Celtic and Eddie Thompson IS Dundee Utd. That's the bottom line, you get punished for any transgressions of the owner and why should that not be the case? Rangers got a couple of fines (Celtic too) for the actions of their fans in UEFA competitions, so if the club can be punished for the fans' actions why should the fans not be punished (indirectly) for offences perpetrated by the titular head of that football club?
Yes blaming the Panel Members lacked class and dignity. As far as I'm aware, it was not them that set the punishments, they merely judged the cases and found Rangers guilty. That's like a murderer blaming the jury for him getting a life sentence.
A good analogy CA. This is interesting. Crisis club Gretna relegated to Third Division 29 May 2008 GLASGOW (AFP) - Gretna were relegated to the Scottish Third Division on Thursday after the crisis club were unable to guarantee they could fulfill their fixtures next season. Gretna, who went into administration in March, were relegated from the Scottish Premier League this season and have now been demoted by two further levels after talks at the Scottish Football League's annual general meeting. They now have less than a week to avoid expulsion from the league as SFL officials will not accept the continuing status of a club in administration. The SFL want any takeover to be completed by the early part of next week or they will invite applicants to replace the stricken club. David Elliot of administrators Wilson Field has been negotiating with a consortium fronted by football agent Paul Davies. But the SFL were unconvinced by Davies's business plan and were also concerned by the unsuitability of Raydale Park for First Division football. SFL chief executive David Longmuir said: "We and the SFL had to make sure we protected the integrity of our league. "There was no commitment from the administrator that Gretna could fulfil the fixtures at all in the coming season, which means we had to do what we thought was right for our league." Gretna went into administration in March after owner Brooks Mileson, who is terminally ill, cut off his supply of cash to Gretna which also saw them effectively relegated as they were deducted 10 points. Under Mileson, who invested 8 million pounds (16 million dollars) into the club, Gretna had enjoyed a rapid rise from the obscurity of non-league football to the SPL, as well as reaching the 2006 Scottish Cup final. Hmm, seems Gretna's owner got them punished?
Didn't Rangers demanding a few grand from Airdrie sink them? 'business is business....' They have a brass ****ing neck.
They could've saved Dundee from administration too if they'd paid for Novo - instead, they waited until Dundee went into administration and took the wee ****e for free. Karma. 'tis one satisfying muthafukka
Birmingham city are presently subject to a transfer embargo for failure to file accounts. They can't because their owner is facing money laundering procedures. But this doesn't happen to anyone but rangers
Has the embargo got a set length or are they under jurisdiction of the SFA? Is Craig Whyte laundering money? (hmmmm that statement could backfire on me given recent history) Is this is any way, shape or form like Rangers other than the fact the both have been banned from signing players and you like using the word 'embargo'? Would a fairer resolution not be to stop Rangers signing players while they owe other clubs money and force them to pay all transfer fees up front for several years? When it comes to punishing Whyte the SFA are powerless and they know it. All they have available to them is to punish the club.
Clubs always owe other clubs money...it could last forever Administration wasn't sought because rangers had debts...it was because they had unmanageable debts They only way to be sure rangers pay their other member clubs is to reduce the amount of ways they can throw away cash and the two biggest outlays are transfers and wages A one year ban is preferable to an ongoing one Throwing them a fine is a bit pointless though
It's a fair point you make. And no offence, but if the embargo was to last until you pay all money owed, you'd never be free of it, as you'll need players on the park to make money and in turn pay the debts My point was merely the fact many rangers fans (i appreciate not you) appear to suggest the club shouldn't be punished or treated leniently due to the ownersThey claim it's never happened before. Just showing it does happen
McCoist is wrong for blaming the SFA for this whole mess. Murray sold us to a crook and that crook has sold us down the river and we are ****ed. If the BTC goes against us then all of the blame must go to Murray but the Jury is still out on that so to speak.
Is the punishment for adminstration or the deliberate non disclosure of information and non payment of tax (as in vat and paye this year) not the other tax cases?
Yes I believe that Rangers were punished for not disclosing the fact that Whyte had previously been banned from being a Company Director within 5 years of taking over at Rangers. Rangers and it's board of Directors must have known that and Murray MUST have known it.
This is all happening before the First Tier Tribunal hits. Murray is to blame for this regardless of what happens with that. Look at the massive **** he made of MIH. The jury aint out as far as I can see.
