I appreciate it would be expensive but think it's poor not to have one, given proximity to ground. With the new badge this would have been a great way to have launched it.
Agree but guess also a case of likely demand and if financially viable, not sure we get the tourist buyer as a rule like other London clubs. What they should do (if they don't already)is have a deal with one of existing sports shops for a QPR section where you could at least get a bit of visibility. I always order online as cannot bear the club shop on match days.
No brainer really.....The only problem is that these days your average resident of Shepherds Bush is not a Rangers fan, probably more likely to be Arsenal. Spurs, Chelsea, Man Utd or Liverpool if they follow football at all, which is a damning indictment of what the area has become. Plus the tourists have probably never heard of us and interested in the teams listed above......... It would be typical if one of those clubs opened a shop in Westfield....... I suppose it doesn't need to be actually in the Westfield centre, it would suit a shop say by the Central Line & Overground Stations stations.....
Nice idea but can't see it making any money, and surely anyone who would travel there on match day will be walking past the club shop anyway, and on non match days the club shop is open and pretty empty. This would be another big plus of a new stadium and a bigger club shop.
Would be good for raising 'brand' awareness but would probably have to be heavily subsidised. If they didn't bother when we were Premier league they definitely won't bother now.
I raised that as a possible question for one of the "meet the forums" get togethers last year, but can't recall if it was brought up or answered. A general sports shop with a QPR slant would probably make most sense
Is there an Ann summers shop in Westfield We could have a selection of goodies in the masochist section
No, Derby county tried this in the city centre, a town with only 1 club and it failed dismally they now only have the fan shop under the IPRO, and it hardly does any business except on match days, yet all the sports shops in town sell only Liverpool, Chelscum, Manure and Citeh and a host of La Liga and Italian replica tops, most don't even sell Derby stuff.
Perhaps we could take over the premises vacated by the Rams in the Derby Westfield. Sell a lot of Bobby Zamora merchandise.
Good post Turkish. Fulham had a club shop in Fulham Road about half a mile from their ground. They had to close in February 2013 due to it running at a constant loss despite them being a well established club in the premiership and in a popular London location at the time. It's not as if they were having a bad season as they finished twelfth and were getting 25,000 crowds. Unless you're a fashionable big glamour club it would be difficult to establish a club shop away from the stadium with a limited target consumer. http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2013/february/12/store-closure
Should QPR have a shop at Westfields? A good question and of course we should but why stop there? If I was in charge we would have a QPR shop branch in every town in every city across the UK. We would call these shops QPR-Local or QPR-Direct, would make my life easier not having to travel so far, it's just convenient.
Didn't we close our club shop behind the Springbok on South Africa road only this year as it was a loss making concern. So answer is definitely no.
