I'm a Sunday school teacher and today was our last lesson for the term. One of the kids (they're all 7 and 8) asked me if it was true that catholics and protestants hated each other. Rather than tell her the truth I said that we should judge peope on who they are and not what they are and most people would think exactly the same. It got me to thinking that if we really want kids to know the truth about the attitudes of adults and what's really important in life we could actually close all the schools and give them this web address and let them sign in. Does anyone else agree?
How else will they find out that mummies and daddies or daddies and daddies etc , if they are special friends like to poo on each other . Thanks again Toby
What the **** you ****s on about and who the **** is Clare? <pics please> The answer to the OP is yes now that Huth is gone
Dan You gave the kids a sensible answer. Ok - there's many differences between us - but why does extremes of attitude to these differences lead to carnage in the world. In relation to religion - both Catholics & Protestants follow the Christian faith - so hatred should not exist ( hypocricy ). I'm not sure if your question re exposure to GC is a serious one. Kids lose all sense of innocence too early these days. I'm sure that with all forms of media at the disposal of our youngsters, they are pretty much already aware of the hatred that a small percentage of man has for man in this world - because the other view point is news that is too happy to be put on television.
The bitterness between Kaffs and proddies is in the main confined to Oirland and to a lesser extend Scotland. The rest of the christian world on the whole get along just fine.
Excellent idea Dan - by signing my 6 and 9 year old into GC I will be able to avoid the one child-parent educational chat every parent dreads ; " ****s and *****s ".
