I was thinking that if joey does stay (as he does want to) should he carry on playing on the right. As he has had a great season playing there and with nolan, tiote, gosling and all the others we are being linked with, we had a great CM. What are people thoughts if he is with us next year.

Definitely keep him there IMO, he has proved capable and it frees up a spot in central midfield for Cabaye/Tiote/Nolan etc

No point keeping him on the right without a striker capable of winning headers in my opinion. Would rather have a true winger out there, and Barton running things in the middle.

I like us to sign a dedicated right winger.

My only worry with leaving him out there is that he often leaves Simmo exposed by drifting inside.

Think he brings out the best of Simpson going forward though, nice link up play.

Agree 100%. His agression is wasted on the wings, get someone quicker and more skillful there, a la Gervinho <diva>

Definitely not, we need pace on the wings. Also in the Chelsea game he showed how much better he is in centre mid.

Or just put Guti on the right(his natural position) & buy someone like Menez for the LW spot. <ok>

Maybe something like this next season those who want him in the middle? (assuming we are flexible with Ben Arfa's "number 10 role")

    -------------Tiote
    ------Cabaye-----Barton
    Gervinho-------------Ben Arfa
    ------------Gameiro

I know we wont get both Gameiro and Gervinho but that is prime formation porn/****ing material.

No buy a proper RW and use Barton as CM. CM is his best position and a high quality RW will offer more on the right than Barton can in that role.

I like this but perhaps N'Zogbia on the right instead of Gervinho as I feel that's probably more realistic.

Agree, couldnt think of a RW we had been linked with but that is more likely. I'd also like to see us have 2 wingers on the correct side for a change.

Nice to see we've moved on from an extreme right winger <whistle>
