Give him until the end of the season. That's what I think will happen anyway- he would have gone by now otherwise. Lose at Brighton and we're out of the running, so it doesn't matter if we get a new manager, if we wanted a new one before Brighton it's too late now for him to have any effect. I'm sticking with Pearson for now, but ultimately I think he's ****ed.
I voted stay... Heart definitely ruling my head there though. If he hasn't gone by now, it looks like he's going to be given to the end of the season at least. After that, who knows?
Didnt vote, but if I had it would be to get rid. Has done a decent job in many respects, but that has been largely due to the owners investments and Walshy's scouting. Had a 'chat' with him pre season at Burton, and he was so reserved - it wasnt even about football! Couldnt motivate a priest in an all boys school. Tactically inept, and seems to piss off more people than any other manager I have known. Pretty sure that he will now be our manager when we travel to the ****ty ground on the last day of the season. Give me the passion and motivational skills of M O'N/Jimmy Bloomfield and even the gentleman that was Matt Gillies any day. So prove me wrong!
What he said ... and have to disagree with Proud at the moment ... I have seen nothing from Nigel Pearson in either stint at the club that has me optimistic about him being able to manage in the Prem ... so 'long term success' ... not for me ... not on what I've sen to date ... refer to Barwell's post for the reasons that suggest otherwise to me ... always happy to be proven wrong ...
I'm on the fence, I've been a Pearson supporter, but even I'm "starting" to think his time may be up. Brighton is make or break for our promotion hopes and Mr Pearsons job I fear.
I think we should keep him. He's done a great job since coming back from Dull and its something we all seem to have forgot because of the last few games!!! Yes it would be nice to get promotion and I still think we will sneek in the play-offs by drawing the next game then hitting form again with the remaining games and hopefully winning the play-offs. I've seen enough crap Managers here over the years that we all at the time thought would be great (Taylor, Sousa, Mad-Dog etc) so I'd personally like to see him given until Christmas next season to see what happens in the Summer If we don't go up. I'm however pretty sure if we don't make the Play-offs he will be gone........................ Along with all the schmeichel and knockaert and any other quality he has brought in! Rome wasn't built in a day and I still think Pearson is the man to take us forward.
just think it wasnt that ling ago that we were the best team in the league by a long way. Every team goes through bad form, and yes this is VERY bad, but it will come good.
Suspect he will stay now till end of season...they would have sacked him Yesterday if they were going too. Heard a rumour that if we don't get promoted they can get rid without paying compensation, if they sack him now they will have to settle his contract. They are business people in charge of the club not football people so although only hearsay i suspect this may be the case.
You look at Nigel's signings and the average age of them and tell me you cant see Nigel bringing long term success here Its people like Konchesky, Wellens, Gallagher, Danns, Beckford that are proving a hiddence as they are pratically deadwood on massive wages Also King, Nugent and St. Ledger's wages doesnt match the abilities. They need pay cuts or to be shipped out if we remain in this league
1) Yes he's signed those players (although most knowledgeable observers would give the main credit to Steve Walsh for the talent spotting) 2) If he is tactically inept then he will NEVER bring 'long term success' - on that the jury is probably still out BUT ... 3) ... the players whose signing you are citing as reasons for confidence in long term success are part of a team that has now won one in eleven in this league - 'suggesting' that they are either not being man-managed properly OR that the guy managing them is .......... tactically inept.
