Dave, the only other qpr supporter i know here reckons i should give the goons a chance He says before they got here we were going nowhere He thinks they got us back into the premiership we should back them. Even though they have tried to make us a laughing stock re managers etc he is going to support them. what do you think?
Hmm, what do I think? Well, after everything is said and done they are a couple of w*nkers who don't really give a flying toss about us BUT they did put their hands in their pockets at the right time to bail us out. On the other hand with the Mittal / Bhatia camp (who are no knights in shining white armour, and are probably even more hard nosed than the two already mentioned), I'd rather see them buy us because of the massive untapped market in the sub continent. This is a pipe dream and probably all of you will laugh at this but could you imagine millions of little kids running around Mumbai in fake QPR shirts with Chopra (who knows, I rate him when he's fit) on the back and Kingfisher Lager adorning the front?
they may have saved the club but it was only after Amit & Ishan got motivated was progress made with out them Neil would have been gone and we would have some dodgy ltalian managing us now
The problem with the "untapped market in the sub continent" is that the rights would easily be sold to a third partry in india (no problem there) ... on the cheap to a company owned by part of the Mittal empire. QPR would make very little out of the deal.
Should i give the goons some benefit of the doubt? 'Course you should kiwi... Goons love a bit of benefit. Slumdog Billionaire! - great image Melbourne.
I think my siggy gives a hint... Pardon the pun, but Bernie made his initial fortune selling vehicles, QPR are another vehicle for him to make money regardless of success because we are now Premier League. Mittal's men steadied the rocking boat at Loftus Road for 14 months, got us to the promised land and were sacked, now they're gone it's beginning to rock again with daft decisions like the season ticket prices and no apparent badly-needed investment in quality players to keep us there. It doesn't matter about the morals or ethics of who owns the club, we had a supporter, Chris Wright, who was hailed as the messiah when he bought out the Thompsons, but he effectively bankrupted our club to give a leg-up to Wasps Rugby Club, they enjoyed a decade of success whilst we went through purgatory. If someone comes along offering to deliver your dream are you really going to say 'sorry, I don't like the way you make your money'. Get real, the Mittals will deliver success even if it is ultimately to make a killing.
The only time there was progress was when the goons stepped into the background. With Mittals presence gone (for the moment at least) I fear we will back to Circus A Briatore.
Mittal hasn't gone anywhere, he still owns the same amount of shares as he did before Bhatia resigned. He will still have representation at board meetings and Bhatia resigning was nothing more than their next move to distance themselves from the goons and to try and buy the club. I'm sure it will happen, just a case of when.
Agree with Lone. Long way to go yet before a ball is even kicked in the Prem. When not if. Hopefully with enough time to sign some quality. Its going to be a vintage Rangers Rollercoaster next season. Can't wait. I do reckon we'll turn over one of the big lads - Chelsea / Arse / Manure / Citeh / Spuds but my money's on doing Liverpool at Anfield to make up for '76
Wonderfully slack comment QPR3! You know as well as I that no amount of wins at Anfield could possibly replace the chance for ultimate glory lost in 76.
