I would like to see the following players stay and don't give a damn about the rest... Smithies/Ingram Kakay,Furlong, Hall, Lynch, Bidwell, Robinson. Hamalainen Shodipo, 2 Polish lads Sylla. Cousins Get rid of... Onouha.Henry.Perch Caulker. Gladwin. Doughty Washington/Polter Sandro/ Chery/Luongo.E.L.K. Yeni
Doughty has never been given a chance. Meanwhile Sandro walks through 60 minutes a week at best in his position for his £50k. Not sure why you'd want rid of Luongo or Chery. Probably our two best outfield players. Yeni has played about four games. Your keep list includes one striker with a less than impressive work rate.
We add to the keep list, obviously. not sure what Chery/Luongo do. one things for sure, they will not keep us in the division. Watch any other match and tell me the tempo they have isn't 10 x that of ours. even Forest, in defeat, look like a team.
So....the opening poster wants us to get rid of 13 players. How the hell would we replace them and have a match day squad????
So we bomb out 13 players keep 14, as we need a minimum of 20 to get us through to may we need 6 in January when clubs only want to clear out their crap yes I'm sure that will work
Yup.... Completely daft....need to hang on to Chery Luongo Doughty, Poulter and definitely Yeni......and even Washington... Sandro, Henry Gladwin, Perch (although we have no natural RB except Ned, who is not a natural RB anyway) can go. Invest all money on a Rb and a decent striker. We may lose Smithies but do not fret..... Ingram is as good.. . And Lumley will be in a few tears
What has Onouha done to deserve his place? I admit I have been in a while but I expect most things still bounce in front of him. All whilst doing his best mute impersonation. His biggest asset is he's nearly top scorer. Weird world.
Need someone who can instill some confidence in the squad and lift heads when its needed a leader on and off the pitch, a Hill/Wilkins type. Don't think the squad is too bad except upfront where we need a goalscorer.
Leon Osman/Lee Cattermole would be ideal, as captain, but then the wages become an issue. Complete vicious circle but my main point is the current crop are rubbish and we need to replace them. maybe from the lower divisions (Matt Taylor for eg) but have we been scared off doing that by Washington's lack of goals? can't see what people see in the likes of Luongo/ Chery, Poulter, Yeni etc. but we have to keep them by default, which is relegation material.
Top priority is a striker. Our lot are just not contributing enough so far. And it's only going to get tougher from here on in. We are in a relegation fight!
Stan's approach might be unsubtle but he's asking questions that really need to be asked. Why are Luongo and Chery considered so intrinsic to our forward plan by most on here when their effectiveness is highly questionable. Luongo in particular has the look of a decent player and appears to work hard but to me he is nearly always in the wrong place at the wrong time, fails to link up the play which should be his primary job on the pitch and responds poorly to pressure. Chery simply isn't scoring enough and doesn't look like he ever will. There is all sorts of blame to dish out regarding our poor form this season but it is nonsense to exclude these two under-performers from the equation.
I tell you what is nonsense...complaining about Chery! What a load of cobblers...one of the best players in the league let alone in our squad
The thing is, both Chery and Luongo would be major assets for most other Championship clubs. Successive Rangers managers and coaches seem incapable of getting the best out of them.
People asking for a striker - when we play with wide men and get the ball into the box we have proved we can score. I'm still mystified that we don't play to our strengths. Shodipo and Wszolek are well capable in this division, and Sylla and Polter do score if they get the service - sadly we don't provide any... ...and constantly replacing players and expecting them to somehow become a team in one transfer window does not work - we have proved it time after time after time, when will we learn? We don't have cash to splash, we need to get rid of the remaining high earners who (imo) are patently not up to the job (...seriously how old is Sandro anyway?) and just add a couple to the defence if possible. GK's - Smithies Ingram RB Furlong (isn't Osman Kakay a right sided defender?) +1 LB - Robinson Bidwell Hamalainen CB Hall Lynch Onuoha +1 MID Borysiuk Cousins Luongo Chery Gladwin WIDE Shodipo Wszolek N'Gbakoto El Khayati STRIKER Washington Polter Sylla All of them capable at this level... I increasingly worry that we can't play Chery and Luongo in the same team A little bit of patience/perspective - we are 4 games into this new manager's stint at the helm - it will not change immediately, it will not be easy, it will not magic us into promotion material... oh, and the next 3 games will not be pretty, but they never were going to be so assuming we get nil points from them we will probably start the NY in the bottom 3.
