Was listening to former ref Mark Halsey on Talksport this morning. He confessed to being a QPR fan and said we were lucky to have profited from appalling mistakes by the ref yesterday. He said the ref was about 15 yards too far behind play to see Green's handball, which would have been a straight red. He also said the Henry tackle was an absolute straight red as well and that Routledge should not have been sent off either, although Routledge's red was the result of intervention from the linesman. Overall, the draw doesn't seem quite so bad now...
Unfortunate incidents have a way of balancing themselves out over the course of a season, or even a couple of seasons. We had a few decisions going against us in our relegation season, such as Derry's sending off after Young's dive at OT, and Hill's headed goal against Bolton which denied us vital points when we really needed them. I don't feel too sorry for Swansea at this point in time, and I don't think they have too much sympathy for us in our present predicament. See, it's already balancing out...
Yes, the irony was that Bolton were the wrong end of that penalty decision v Stoke on the last day of the season so maybe you are right.
Must admit that having watched it on MOTD Henry's tackle on Routledge was pretty nasty although at the time I thought it was robust and nothing more and I thought that Routledge was unfortunate to be given a Red Card, it was all too similar to Barton's Red Card against Norwich a few seasons ago, the victim receiving the more serious punishment. The ref was awful yesterday as were a lot of other refs especially that idiot Jones who gave Liverpool 2 very Home penalty decisions. Have to say Leicester looked as if they played some really good football yesterday and were unlucky not to win.
