Could have been 6-1 if Faye didn't hit 2 posts at once and if Bogdan made a fantastic save from Quinn.
Agreed on all 3, that save from Quinn was amazing. The ball had already gone past Bogdan's body but he sort of clawed it back and saved it. Faye hitting both posts was unlucky but I can't work out why Aluko didn't finish it off, he was stood right next to it.
skirmish? the bolton defenders took out their own keeper. that isnt a skirmish at all. faye was blamless
Nope. It was a case of 6 and 2 three's. Bogdan actually goes into the back of Simpson but GK are now covered by the new E.S.A. rule ""Endangered Spiecies Act"" On another day it would have been 5-2 as Faye hit both posts with another header and Bolton missed a 2nd half sitter. 3-1 and 3 points will do for me.
I thought if we'd done a straight swap of Aluko for McLean we could have had a few more, we were piling on the pressure, breaking with speed and accuracy, Bolton were very sloppy and we were tearing them apart. I was disappointed he brought Evans in, and thought it a risky move as we had no outlet up the pitch to keep the ball, it was all Bolton from then and with a team with their quality of players that pressure can easily turn into goals, but it worked so I can't really criticise too much, I just thought they were game for a few more goals and it would have been nice to keep attacking and potentially give them a real thumping.
Goalkeepers are overprotected. If they go down, it's a foul, as demonstrated both yesterday by Bogdan and moreso today by Pepe Reina.
we where never going to get a second in our favour.. there was nothing wrong with fayes goal but 9 times out of ten it would have been disallowed in the modern game
Agreed, Aluko for Mclean was the obvious switch. And McShane shouldn't be on the pitch, not in any circumstances, not only because he's ****, but because he currently looks like a reject from a 118 advert.
Bruce brought Evans on to tighten things up and ensure we held on to the points. That might have been a negative tactic but considering the way we threw away a 2-0 lead at Doncaster he probably felt it was worth it.
There was nothing wrong with the goal, but any challenge on the keeper is likely to get a free kick and we'd already had the Faye one allowed. Fair enough as far as I'm concerned.
Agreed, the replays clearly show that both Bolton defenders cleared Bogdan out themselves and only leaving Faye to have a free header. Even Coyle came out and said that Faye's goal was a foul on the keeper to try and justify himself to the Wanderers fans. Clearly he hadn't seen the replay...
