This is a genuine question, given James Brents unequivocal support for Carl Fletcher he may still be manager at the end of this season regardless of whether we are relegated or not.So if Fletch does'nt resign and we are or are'nt relegated-SHOULD he be manager at the start of next season?
If we survive then I actually think the answer is Yes. He will not be the absolute novice anymore and would have a proper pre-season and transfer period to sort a few things out. He hasn't done badly with the players brought in whether on loan or on contracts. If we go down then No. Cut out all the deadwood from the relegation years altogether and start from scratch with a proven wheeler dealer. So, my answer depends on this seasons outcome.
Its a no from me too .... if we survive it will be down to Lady Luck and not Fletchers managerial skills
That's a bit unfair Gat. You cannot blame a manager when things go wrong and then refuse to credit him when it goes right. If he is in charge then good or bad alike are his to claim. The start of the season was the worst on record and even if it had been slightly better we would be sitting several places higher than we are so all the ills for this season are not down to him alone in my opinion. Macclesfield have just sacked their manager so that is two in one weekend gone. This season is like "The Killing Fields" in managerial terms. Don't think I've ever known so many fall on swords.
On balance I vote Yes. We need stability, Fletch has done reasonably well since taking over and has made some shrewd moves. We are at least hard to beat and with a bit more composure in front of goal could turn those draws into wins. I sincerely do believe that we will survive this season. At least it is now in our hands and we don't have to rely on other results. The big question is whether Fletch can become a decent manager when there's no relegation pressure. Don't forget he's been involved in all the drops so far so it would be interesting to see how he'd perform in a winning season.
