Should England stick two fingers up at Bepp Splatter and risk FIFA punishment by wearing their poppies anyway?

I would normally say a big resounding YES - but......... sometimes setting a precedent can be a pandora's box. It's unlikely that most will agree with me, but this is whipping up a frenzy and might have been better if the politicians had kept out of it.

I think the fact Cameron spoke on behalf and defended the fact we should wear our poppy with pride is something that's given me more respect for the man!!

England would never begrudge a opposing team for wearing a flower or what ever on there shirt for remembrance of a big loss for those sacrificed in fighting for there country!!

Fifa officials turned down the special request, made by the FA, claiming it would "open the door to similar initiatives" across the world.

The organisation says it has always been consistent in its approach.

However, it will allow a minute's silence to be held before the game.

It has also given permission for the England players to wear poppies on their training kit at Wembley on Friday and to stand for the traditional two minutes' silence to mark Armistice Day on Friday.

I have to say I agree with FIFA in this instance , it is an international match , the fact it is at wembley should not really matter .

Also they are allowed to wear Poppies during practice on saturday & They will wear black arm bands on sunday & lay a wreath of Poppies on the pitch before kick off .

I don't think England should be allowed to wear the Poppy tonight - but I believe that Fifa have gone the wrong way about the whole situation. Cameron should not have go involved and the media frenzy is now starting to really grind my gears!

The Poppy has been a symbol of the fallen since the 1910's - so why is it that the FA want a poppy on the kit now? some 90-odd years later?

There will be a 2 minute silence - England are allowed to wear an armband, and there is nothing stopping them putting a poppy on any training kit.

I really do not see what the reason for the big hoo-haa is and it should just be accepted.

Unfortunately, from what I heard this morning, the referee is under instructions not to let the match commence if the kit has a poppy on it.

I heard the same. England wont be wearing the poppy on their kit, simple as that.

Crapello and the England squad must be loving all of this poppy nonsense as it's taking away the attention from the fact that Spain are going to smash them on Saturday.

It'll be men against boys, a real embarrassment guranteed. Hopefully, it will teach the greedy, arrogant, egotisical twerps that they're not world beaters like they think they are. Can't wait for Spain to teach England a footballing lesson - and i'm English.

Unfortunately, much as I think they should be wearing the poppy, I know there is no chance that they will. And I agree with everything else you say about the footballing lesson, similar to Barcelona v Man U I would imagine.

The FA have released a statement today saying the players will wear black armbands instead of the poppy.

Do you need a poppy to remember the fallen? I haven't been wearing one all week, but that doesn't mean I haven't given this really important week any thought, or been thinking about our troops. IMO, the minute silence & laying of the wreath is what really matters <ok>

Oh, and Cameron & the EDL really should've stayed out of it...

No, they shouldn't, and it's ridiculous that anyone even cares enough to write an article about it. It means nothing, just remember them some other way. It's just a ****ing poppy! What purpose does it even serve?!
