Wenger has made himself look even more less of a football manager and more like a money saver, as he makes a joke of a bid for Bolton’s Gary Cahill

Wenger has tabled an offer of just £6million, plus extras, for the England international, which is roughly a THIRD of Bolton’s valuation on their centre-half.

The offer is so low that the offer wasn’t even taken seriously at first!

Arsenal have turned their attention to Cahill after failing with a £12m offer for Everton’s Phil Jagielka, and stepping back from Blackburn skipper Chris Samba because of his price-tag.

Their move for Cahill is bizarre, however, as boss Owen Coyle has made no secret of his willingness to sell at a reasonable price.

Bolton insiders claim the Arsenal bid is ‘taking the mickey.’

Cahill is in the last year of his deal and is eager to join an elite club, but Bolton will not accept a low offer or any effort to destabilise their star man.

Wanderers paid £5m for Cahill and now value him at £17m.

Bolton are happy to keep the player and either convince him to sign a new contract or possibly sell in January when he will still be an asset because he will be eligible for the Champions League.

With Arsenal losing their two main midfielders in the space of a week and a half and putting such a low bid in for Cahill. It makes you wonder, is Wenger controlling who’s coming in and out of the club or is the Chairman?

Arsenal need to strengthen their squad after they have qualified for the Champions League, for the 15th consecutive year, and if they want to finish in the top four. With Manchester City posing a huge threat for the title, Arsenal need to build their squad if they want any chance of competing.

    ------

Arsene needs to finally bite the bullet and maybe pay slightly over the odds for someone but thats not Gary Cahill, he is a quality player and he is exactly what Arsenal need.

Wengers days as a coach are numbered, i can see us failing to get out of the CL group and dropping out of the top 4 if no new signings are made.

Wenger would make a great Director of Football but he is tactically weak and his touchline antics appalling, the sooner he moves upstairs the better.
