So one of our only top class players is replaced as captain by a Englishman having a bit of a mare of a season for Swansea. Great for morale and another masterstroke by Coleman. Has he given Leighton James a job yet. Cant wait to see what Coleman does after a defeat to a poor Scottish outfit.
Because Ramsey was such an inspirational captain? Williams has had a few bad games, that does not class as a mare of a season. How has Ramsey been doing? Anything to do with the fact you don't want a Jack captaining Wales?
Id have no problem with a Jack being captain of Wales. However hes not a Jack. I dont think for one minute that Ramsey is the ideal captain. But replacing him with someone who isnt Welsh and isnt even a inspirational player is a poor decision. Williams plays for Wales because hes not good enough for England. We use this for our own benefit as we have a small pool of players. However surely we should give our highest honour to a Welshman. Whether hes from Cardiff , Swansea or anywhere in our own country.
hilts is spot on. if you are going to alienate one of our most important players, only do it if its worth it. williams is a good player for us, but well below the playing abilities of our best players, and he is having a poor season for swanea, so a poor decision from an inept manager feeling the pressure.... and he's english too, if i was playing for wales i wouldnt want an englishman to be leading us......
With Coleman giving Bellers an ultimatum and taking the captain arm band from Rambo he looks like Toshack mark 2, where most of our best players retired from internationals early. I thought that we should have given Coleman a chance but his decisions have been inept. Dutch Ray or John Hartson ? Rambo or Williams ? Let me think

If you could only play for the country of your birth, the England Cricket and Rugby teams would be short a few players. The rules are the rules and we should use them to our best advantage. We had the same debate with the Jacks when there was talk of Turner playing for Wales. He has the same national qualifications as Williams. I agree that the preference would be be to have a 'Welsh' Welshman captaining the side. Saying that, if he's qualified to play, he's qualified to captain the side.
Exactly. He's normally a great leader for us Swans, and he plays well for our country, why shouldn't he be allowed to captain them if he's allowed to play.
I think some of the comments about Williams have been churlish in the extreme. He's no Franz Beckenbauer, but he's always given his best for Wales, and as he's considered eligible to play for us, he has a right to be considered as captain. I've always had the feeling Ramsay, although having undoubted ability, is a bit of a prima donna

Correct me if I'm wrong here but isn't Williams the only player in the squad that actually captains a premier league squad? If he's the most qualified person to captain our national side then he should do it. There were numerous Cardiff fans on this forum asking for a foreign manager for our national side but now you want a welsh captain.

Awwww, he's upsetting the Cardiff lads...BLESS!!! Nobody complained in the last however many games Williams has played, but now he's captain, suddenly he shouldn't play at all? If Whittingham as eligible would you have him in the Welsh side? Of coure you would. Would you allow him as Captain? Of course you would. Ash is captain for a side in the PL, this makes him the most suited. So we've shipped a few goals, isn't there four in defense? Tell me........wer you not 2-0 up against Palace? Did you not ship 4 goals in the 2nd half? So, don't question our defense.
Can I point out we lost 3-2 so where you got 4 from god knows before you start shouting your mouth off get your facts straight and out of those 3 goals 2 were penalties....
