Defined as a significant run of winning major trophies and then considered as heading off into mediocrity unlikely to achieve past glories. Wenger: 1998 - 2005 (mitigating circumstances... won back to back domestic cups 9 yrs later.) Mourinho: 2003-2015 (mitigating circumstances... always had a cheque book that didn't bounce but suffering mid-life crisis) Rafa: 2002 - 2006 (mitigating circumstances... serves a lovely paella)
I'm no advocate of LVG fella but by that logic we should discount Mourinho's league title last season. One question though... what's it like having the most successful manager in your club's history - your greatest legend - now reduced to being a pariah by the very fans who once adored him? I cant think of any other club where that's happened. Except perhaps Arsenal by the time Wenger leaves.
The fans still adore him, Jose has spin doctored them thus, that's why he is still in a job. His most special act ever is keeping his job after the Southampton game, anyone else would be gone. He is a holy cow at The Bridge all the matchgoing fans love him (too much in my opinion) The only dissent is on social media etc
He's had some pretty negative things to say about Chelsea fans in the past. The hero worship of him is a bit of a one sided relationship.
