What is it with short sleeved shirts..? You see them in the bitterest of bitter cold weather, with a player wearing some colour matched thermal underneath, and throughout the season, with the central players generally playing nought but shirt, while the odd wide player may continue on the thermal front, as he gets into less of the game. To be honest, I don't a monkey's about short sleeved shirts. I'm wondering about the demise of the long sleeved variety in football. What happened..? Was there a law passed or something..? One thing I always liked about the Saints shirt was how the stripe went down the arm to the cuff. Now it stops mid-upper arm and I miss that cuff at the wrist. Bring back the long sleeved shirt. Dare I ask, who's with me..? Or will I get...
Short-sleeved shirts are dope, and anyone that wants to wear a long sleeve one is a sissy. In fact, wearing a short-sleeve shirt with no under layer should be made law, then players will have to run around more to keep warm. Players must not be lazy sissy's, it's a man's game! It makes me wonder if you like seeing these foreign players wearing gloves and neck warmers, which is nothing short of pathetic?! "ooh i'm so cold cos I'm from somewhere warm, i must wear a woolly hat and gloves or i'll die of cold!"... On the subject of tumbleweed, I have seen one piece of grass blowing along before 'making friends' with another piece, then those two tumbled along until they found some friends. It's just really lots of grass friends hanging out together.
TSS - agree completely - much prefer long sleeve shirts. The same can be said of the 125 anniversary shirt - it looked great with long sleeves on the advertisement boards and when I went to get one - they were short sleeved and looked nowhere near as good.
Tumbleweed is a dead plant containing seeds which rolls around until it finds water and then it expands and seeds. Bit like us at the moment...desperately looking for a drop of information which we can then inflate to a 200 opinion thread.
All those Guly bashers should take note that he never ever wore anything but his standard Saints kit. He kept warm through his very high work rate. As regards to long sleeves I don't really have a view although my avatar would suggest otherwise. All I know is that when I am about some physical task I usually roll up my shirt sleeves.
Is that good or bad!? I always buy a long sleeve one, so that I can wear my thermals underneath and not look like a complete arse.
now Fran, don't go using any modern trendy lingo on me, I have no idea ...... just trying to stop those wrinkles!!
The current fashion is to wear short sleeves and a long thermal undershirt, as well as long undershorts. Which is great fun for referees when we go around the warm up and tell them to take them off again if they aren't the same colour as their main kit.
Being slightly serious only for as long as required to write this - you're probably right on the thermals bit. I'm sure it's about keeping muscles at a good temperature so as to avoid cramp and injury. How about thermal striped long sleeved shirts..? Aha..!
It's also native to Eurasia but has become so established in the south western US that it has become a symbol of Western films (says Wikipedia). I prefer long-sleeved shirts to short-sleeved ones. It appears as if the long-sleeved ones have vanished completely from the game and players wanting sleeves, wear that long-sleeved lycra undergarment instead.
Players want to have the tight-fit under thermals on under their short sleeved shirts rather than baggy arms on the long sleeve
Le Tiss used to wear long sleeved shirts quite a lot. I think it might have been to help him keep warm tho! i guess one problem with them is that other players can grab hold of you more easily.
