Just love this line, Short has been satisfied with Bruce in every aspect of his management, other than results.
Money wise, SB has been excellent for Ellis Short. True or not, many of us reckon he's spent about half of what has come in, at least, over the last couple of transfer windows. That must please ES. On the N'Zogbia part of the article. I've never heard SB complain that he couldn't get him even though we all thought it would happen. Not buying N'Zog 'saved' SAFC a lot of expenditure. That would have suited ES. On the Bent, Henderson and Gyan moves. SB has not blamed anyone other than the players (DB & AG) for their moves and didn't complain when Jordan went. We really don't know the full stories behind these moves, although we have some ideas. However, SB has lost some good players but ES has received absolutely no criticism about this, also convenient for ES. I know SB has made mistakes with his tactics and some transfer dealings (why no left back or wing, why no replacement (( proven)) strikers etc) but he's never complained about his boss. I just wonder who is ultimately deciding the transfers. One thing I find impossible to believe is that SB is doing this on purpose because he's a Mag supporter, it makes no sense at all. ES is coming out of this quite well but I think the fans need him to show a bit of leadership now. Either give SB a big transfer kitty in January for the likes of Defoe and Kranskjar(?) or replace him with a proven manager now (MON)
My point is in derby games he is deliberatley setting the team uo NOT to WIN. In doing so, it leaves us open to defeat. Last October was the worst derby game in living memory for Sunderland fans and the fact we have a b&w supporter as manager cannot be ignored. Roy Keane had managed to beat them and draw with them 2 season prior and they arguably had a better team then as well. Bruce kept telling us he had improved the club and runninjg up to that derby game we had the top defense in the country and looked comfortable. We got hammered 5-1. No-one will convince me that he didnt have a negative influence in that result because following it, we sudddenly found our form again and went on a great run. It absolutley stinks that we were good before and directly after the derby game but lost that game so heavily? As for attracting the likes of Defoe and Krankjar thats pie in the sky. We couldnt attract flies with a skip load of **** at this current time with Bruce as manager never mind these kinds of players. Our only hope of staying up this season is to bring ina fresh face that can get this squad going again and MoN fits that bill perfectly for me. He is an honorary, awkward and wily bugger who will relish the challenge of getting us going again and he is the overwhelming choice for me.
Cest I doubt he sets his teams up not to win. Maybe some managers set teams out not to lose, but not to win, that's impossible. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/14514549.stm That, to me looks like the best team he could have put out that day given who was on your bench. All three attacking options came off the bench as well, so for me your point is unfounded. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/9128797.stm That's your line up for the 5-1 defeat also. There's nothing in there to suggest he could have went more attacking. Maybe he could have started Gyan but for who, Welbeck? The scruff's not even in the same league as Danny.
All good and well TErry but how do you reconcille your thoughts with the fact that leading up to that 5-1 thrashing and then the immediate games after we were playing with confidence, spirit and flair. In between that there is a humiliation of a 5-1 beating. Then in the return home game, we went into it on form and almost lost it playing terrible football and sneaking a 94th min equaliser. He is having an negsative effect in the derby games and my belief is that as a b&w supporter, he cant bring himself to win the game. I am absolutely convinced of this.
To be honest cest I couldn't care aless about the fascination of 2 games in a season, I'd happily take beatings in both for a pretty succesful season in full. As for Ellis Short, it's either make or break for his investment, bottle a massive decision and he'll see his investment lose massive amounts of money or give it a go with his own man (It's clear to see that Quinn was the reason for Bruce being here) and get the people who invest in their club back onside.
I'm sorry Adz but for a Sunderland suppoorter to say he couldnt care less about the derby games just isnt right. If you truly dont care about them, then I doubt very much you care at all.
I'm not obsessed by Newcastle that's all, the season is 38 games long not 2. They's 6 points available against Newcastle and 108 in the other 36 games. Like Roy Keane said, the fans are a strange bunch up here, they'd be happy seeing their team relegated as long as they finished higher than Newcastle. I'm more concerned by Sunderland AFC as a whole not just playing a game against a club I couldn't care aless about. If we played Newcastle or the "Craas" every week I could agree with what your saying.
+ If we won the league under Bruce and lost 2 games all season I couldn't care aless if he came out in public and said he lost them on purpose against Newcastle. We'd have actually done something at this club and had some success.
Shorts not happy? The fans are not happy, Bruce is not happy, SNQ will not be happy.. The magic carpet ride has well and truely stopped... So doesn't that say something Ellis...your the boss, the money man....the decision maker overall...your move.
I think we've had our answer. He's got two games. I honestly don't see the point of Bruce having more time. Will two wins get the fans back? I doubt it.
The trouble with these 'two more games' is that you could argue we are throwing away a good chance of 6 points by inaction now. If the next two games were against City and Chelsea for instance, we wouldn't expect anything and SB would probably go after the 2 games but against Wolves & Blackburn it will be almost criminal to just see how things go. We are gambling with 6 points which could easily mean the difference between staying up or not. We will probably get an undecisive pair of results anyway (2 or 3 points) and then will use the next block of games to decide SB's future. Knowing SAFC I guess we will continue to stumble along being indecisive, getting the odd result to stop any positive action.
