I think this is the exact signing we should be looking at. Well done Marty

Sky Sports understands Sunderland are leading the chase for FC Porto whizz-kid Joao Caminata after they invited him for a trial at the club next month.

The 17-year-old attacking midfielder is a free agent after failing to agree professional terms with the Portuguese giants, which has alerted some of Europe's leading clubs to his availability.

Caminata was linked with Chelsea earlier this year after his scoring exploits in the youth teams at Porto brought him to the attention of the Champions League holders.

However, Sunderland have moved quickly to beat off competition from Norwich and other Premier League clubs and are keen to land the Portugal Under-17 international.

Martin O'Neill wants to lessen the creative burden on Stephane Sessegnon and believes the talented Portugal playmaker could prove a useful alternative to his Benin international.

This although I'd have to say at 17 and no experience, he will not be one for this season imo.
