Put this one up because of Monk's observation about Bony where he said that he has never seen anyone with such a powerful shot - that he threatens to burst the net when he hits one right. Great! Wonderful! Can't wait! But hang on, will we ever see it? Monk went on to say that Bony had a harder shot than even Danny Graham. EVEN Danny Graham? I wasn't aware that our Danny was noted for having a particularly hard shot because, quite frankly, we hardly ever saw it. I can only remember one such shot of note which I think was away at Barnsley. Might have been one or two others but they were few and far between. Strange when you consider Monk's statement about his power of shot. Which brings me to Ki. Most of us have seen videos of some of his goals. Not many tap ins but loads of rasping power shots from distance hit powerfully with either foot. Can this be the same shot-shy Ki who plays for us, who, despite his obvious ability to hit one, rarely ever bothers to pull the trigger for us? So, I'm asking the question, are we guilty of becoming like Arsenal, or Barca for that matter, in trying to always score the sweet "footballing" goal? Are we passing up scoring opportunities for the sake of that extra pass? In my view, the answer is yes. Only recently we saw Lamah make a superb break to get one on one with the keeper then he tries to find Bony and fails. Chance GONE!! In my book, if you've got players who can hit them, use them. Not to say that everyone goes shot crazy because that would be ridiculous. But I feel that we've got to take more shots on from outside the area, particularly if you've got players who can do it. It introduces uncertainty to the opposition defence, some of the shots will miss, some of them will go in and some of them will give us "seconds" when the keeper can only parry. Anyone with any thoughts on this?
the last player i can remember who had a shot and used it was Scotland. DG - i find this tough to believe. he is the last person I could imagine hitting one from any sort of distance. Jonjo will be the one to break the ice in scoring from distance - the kid seema to have no inhibititions to hitting a long ball.
shelvey looks as if he can score from a distance and i hope he tries a few now and again but the way we play dont allow for that as we try and pass the ball a bit to much sometimes and lose it. I would like to see some distant shooting if the opportunity arises as i think we have a number of players who can score some brammers...
Leon britton has a powerful shot on him...I saw him kick a ball once and it actually left the ground and travelled 25yrds !
Exactly my point, Yankee. He obviously could hit a ball very hard because his team mate and captain, Garry Monk, bears witness to it. The fact that you find it hard to believe shows how little he used this weapon. The question is, why not?
DG was very often working the channels and creating spec for others, didn't get many chances to shoot because of that, also he was a bit slow getting the ball out of his feet at times, he was very often closed down quickly, his goal against Chelsea seemed to take him forever to finish !

I think bony has more to offer than DG he supposedly has skill on the deck and the strength to shake off a defender, DG didn't really have either, but for 3 million his goal return wasn't as bad as most of you make out. I think he was better than Moore and was a good buy for us.
Again, Leon's strike makes my point. If that situation was replicated today, I can see us trying to put together pass after pass, probing, trying to tease a gap when all the time the gap was there. It only had to be taken and Leon did so to great effect. I think we should do it more often in these sorts of positions, particularly now we do have the guys who can strike a sweet ball.
We do try to walk the ball into the net Ivor, and it's bloody frustrating on times, the last person at the Liberty with a decent shot was Jason Scotland, when he turned and fired, there was no stopping his power drive, and it has to be said that Bodde had a fair shot on him too, but Danny Graham? sorry but he doesn't have a power shot in my view, as for tip toe Ki, well we are all waiting to see what he has!..............
I think Ki has had less time due to better players in the EPL. He has had numerous shots blocked. Needs to get his shot away quicker or make more space.

Shelvey tries them, yes. With success? Rare. Scored from distance against Chelsea, although their keeper was walkabout. Often Shelvey will break into a shooting position before slicing/dragging his shot. But this you will see in time. Potential, of course, he has, as his training continues.
He'll get the best of attention down here with an eye for detail, just look at Routledge!....................
I remember an interview with a Liverpool player long ago 5 years or so (can't remember who) saying that even for a Liverpool player playing in front of the Kop is intimidating and that it's hard to perform when they get on top of a players back. There will be less pressure here at swansea and I think he will be a great signing for us.
In his first proper season (Roy in charge) he tried to score from the halfway line v Napoli, if I remember correctly. Interesting his progression shall be.
