Mass casualties reported at a music concert in Las Vagas. Automatic gunfire raining down on people. Shooter reportedly down now. In those first few seconds it's all down to luck as to whether you're hit or not. When the magazine was empty people realised that was their chance to run, although it takes seconds to swap mags, so getting to a place to hide would probably have been best. Easy to say sat here!!
No word as to who did it yet.

Sounds like a terrorist attack, but by whom, who knows?

    Sick, sick ****ing world!!

Now reported that at least 20 people are dead. Shooter shot from neighbouring hotel on the 32nd floor.

Watching video footage, that gunfire sounds like really heavy calibre rounds, although the sound could be misleading. The length of bursts suggests a belt-fed machine gun or similar.

What made you describe him as a nutter mate? Was it just because you think it was him or because you found some extreme views on that link?

Anyone who fires over 200 rounds into a stationary crowd must be a nutter, maybe coward would be a better word.

Absolutely mate. Presumably it was him. The police say they're looking for the shooter's "companion", who it turns out is his wife. I suppose there's a small chance it isn't him, but it looks that way.

It's not him, the gunman has been named as Stephen Paddock aged 64 from Mesquite, Nevada. Why was that other blokes wife with him? Odd.

He's 64 apparently, yet he's listed as being born on October 29 1968, doesn't add up.

No doubt sales of guns will rocket again in the wake of this atrocity.

I would also like to join in the condemnation of this horrific event

    No answers at all

Not sure that this event can even be prepared for or prevented. We are all easy targets

And Americans (mostly right-wing white americans) still defend the easy availability of heavy assault weaponry. The fact that this shooting won't alter that in any way except reinforcing the gun-nut mentality they have over there is as terrifying and saddening as the event itself.

When are they going to wise up and realise that they are simply perpetuating this kind of event? And that until these weapons can't be owned as a right, then there will be more and more of these shootings.

Land of the free and home of the brave? Not at the moment it's not.
