Don't worry BRS...... not with us. <laugh>

I like Shola as a person and really hope the bloke does find himself a new club. He's got a couple of seasons in him I feel at a lower league club.

Huddersfield Manager, Chris Powell, says that they will be having contract talks with Shola Ameobi after he made a big impression on trial.

Describing the former Newcastle striker as ‘a good size and good stature’, Powell says that after eight days of training he hopes it will lead to Shola signing for the club.

However, he did accept that Shola Ameobi ‘wouldn’t be running around all over the place’, something which I think most of us could have told the Huddersfield boss before they’d taken him on trial.

Chris Powell talking to the local Huddersfield press:

“He’s been training with us and it’s been a good opportunity to have a look at him, I must admit, for a player of his stature to just say they will come and train has been quite refreshing, and he has been excellent around the place.

“Shola has trained really well, he played 45 minutes in a training-ground game we organised against Rochdale, scored and linked up really well.

“So we will have to see how it progresses. He is still here, so there’s the possibility of us having good discussions with his advisor, I will speak to him and we’ll see where it leads.

“I keep thinking we need that type, he is a good size and good stature, he can head the ball and he would give us something slightly different. While he wouldn’t be running around all over the place, if we can get the legs and pace around him then he would be a very decent asset to us, so we will see.

“I want to be fair to him because he is a senior player.

“You don’t want someone like that hanging around for weeks and weeks and not doing anything.

“We’ve had him for seven or eight days in training and hopefully that will lead to something. We will just have to wait and see where it goes.”

Just read the Cisse story and up pops 'Shola in Contract Talks'.
The old heart skipped a beat - Shola coming back to replace Cisse perhaps, but, sadly no, just ACS mind games.

Isn't that half the problem with Shola though - looks good in training!

Its a bit sad when his potential new manager describes him as being of "good size and good stature" who wont be " running all over the place". In summary he is a static lump.
