Yesterday in the Wimbledon / Accrington game that ended 0-0, the ref blew up for half time when Accrington scored a goal. Below is the clip of the incident and you can actually hear the whistle AFTER the ball was hit by the Accrington player and the ball was on its way into the net! The ref's name is Trevor Kettle. Remember him? He was our ref in our recent 3-1 defeat at Portsmouth. Also earlier in the season away at Crawley in our 2-1 defeat. I see from elsewhere that he has a bit of a bad reputation! Where the game ended 0-0 yesterday, that result was good for us obviously. But it is a shocking decision though.
Bluddy terrible refereeing. Remember this? Clive Thomas..... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/26252832
The ref should had blown before the corner. If he is allowing the corner to be taken, he must let it develope until the ball goes out of play or the ball is cleared. Poor decision!
You have to wonder why a referee would do that if he was being impartial. I've seen that sort of thing happen before when someone's just taken a corner, but never in open play like that. The incident probably needs to be investigated because it is so off the wall.
I remember a night game in the 70,s at Eastville in the dying seconds i believe it was John Rudge (or Sandy Allen) scored a header and the game was immediately over making it 1-1 The next day i found out we lost 1-0 because the ref had blown the whistle as the ball was going in the net.
I thought that when extra time was played for stoppages it is announced as no less than however many minutes and I have never seen a game that does not have extra time at the end of the first half or the end of the game so therefore he should let the game get to a point where it can be stopped without controversy
You would think the ref's eyes were on the ball so he could see a shot was just taken. Why on earth did he blow for half time. Crazy. I can only think he wasnt looking at the ball and instead just blew up thinking it was ok. If that is the case then if he wasnt looking at the ball then he could have missed a penalty or any other decision that would have warranted action from him. Just shocking.
He's a good ref normally and very experienced as he has been on the league lost sInce 2003. Let's not criticise him too much as every official makes a bad mistake every now and then. It wasn't as bad as a mistaken identity!
