WBA outfought us, and outmatched us in every department. I am past anger now, it's just apathy. 20 points behind City in March is disgraceful. I think we're finished as a top club for a while, without top 4 we are royally screwed financially and won't be able to attract star players. Back to the good old days at least anyway..
At least this will cut away some of the PS brigade Sack AVB and we go round in circles without future to build on, keep him and we're out of the CL next season. I'm torn.
I want him sacked. What we need to do is give a good performance against Napoli for the fans if nothing else. Get as far as possible in the FA Cup and that's it. Sack AVB and a lot of other players in the summer as well. Both the players and managers positions are untenable
Who would you get in for him though? IF (massive if) Mourinho were open to coming back in the summer, we definitely would be able to attract players imo. I'd wait until the summer with AVB as there's noone at the mo I would want.
You'll probably still get top 4 regardless. If RVP gets injured, Arsenal will fall away but Spurs are on a poor run tomorrow - I seriously doubt we'll take advantage tomorrow. It'll still be too close for my liking come our match in March : /
No chance. I am actually now hoping Spurs beat United tomorrow to end their chances of winning the league. We won't catch either team so it's pointless and It would be good to see both North London clubs get as close to United as possible
Out of interest say you finished 5th this season could you spend £200 million? Obviously if you come 4th you can't because of FFP but if you're not in the CL next season could you do that and then just not spend over your limit the following summer to meet the rules?
I do feel for AVB because he's fighting certain elements in the dressing room and RA won't back him publicly. At any other club, when a new manager arrives, the players have to impress him. At Chelsea, the manager has to impress certain players. It's a ridiculous state of affairs. After we exit the CL the trouble makers should be sent to train with the reserves until the end of the season, then moved out of the club. For the rest of this season we should go with the youngsters. What have we got to lose? This madness has to stop. RA has to stop indulging these prima donnas NOW!
Thought so, you'd be better off coming 5th then in my opinion, could make some major signings. I know some people think because you're not in the champions league big names won't come but city still managed to attract big name players because the players knew they'd be their the following season. Might actually work out better for you coming 5th
Not very often I disagree with you but you have called this wrong in my opinion. Chelsea for long periods controlled this game and missed three good chances to go ahead before WBA scored. Although WBA enjoyed the last 15 minutes of the game it should have been all over before they struck. Cech, Cole, Luiz, Cahill, Essien & Drogba all put in a good shift but the worst culprits were Mata, Sturridge & Lampard the unmentioned were only a little better. Sturridge will never be a centre-forward or play the central role as long as he has 'a hole in his arse' He has poor control and suffers from Walcott's disease. He should have had a brace and Mata should have registered. Its not good enough at all and those who didn't perform need to ask themselves serious questions.
No,the previous 3 years spending are taken in to account regardless of whether you're actually in Europe or not.It still counts.
Its a depressing situation! AVB doesn't have any friends and every game that goes by I feel he gets further away from " reinventing" Chelsea! I'm going to resolve myself to saying I wont juump off Beachy Head if we manage to avoid relegation this season!
I agree with this assessment GM. Not only in this game , but in most others, especially Napoli, we created several very good chances. We just don't have ANY strikers who can score. Sturridge is simply not the genuine article. Loads of potential yes, but just doesn't cut it when needed. I think it's as much attitude and experience as skill. However we've been saying this for 2 seasons. Mata did have a poor game, but ,hey , that does happen. Lampard is a 20mins per game man now, not a starter. Why we never talk about wesley Shneider is a mystery to me. Maybe if our strikers got some decent ball even they might score ??
