End of a quiet news week and a break at work led to us discussing the worst football decisions we had seen. I remember a Chelsea v Leicester cup game back in 97 I think. After a two-game tussle with Leicester - which was about to head for penalties, referee Mike Reed awarded Chelsea a penalty after Erland Johnsen went down under a totally non-existent challenge. Then there was the Stuart Attwell howler at Watford and these www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtIR-HYgKyY Any really bad ones you can remember?
A shocking decision by someone to show a dubious offside call on the big screen at Argentina v Mexico. Everyone saw it wasn't offside and the linesman was suddenly surrounded by a lot of angry players!
Similar but not as well remembered as Ghost Goal, is Ghost Goal mk.II. Even more funny that it was against Colin.
Mark Hughes had a goal for us not given. His shot was so hard it hit the stanchion at the back and came right out.
There is a really bad dive in one of the South American leagues aswell but I cant find the video, but this is ****ing awful http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLEw6lFp-ys
Here's another belter from Russia.
To be fair to that ref, by the letter of the law, he's correct. I also submit this disgrace from 2002. Especially bad is the stonewall Italian penalty that got a second yellow for diving, and the perfectly good goal Spain had disallowed. I'll let Didier sum up my feelings: And another one. How on earth this wasn't a red card, I'll never know.
