http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/rodgers-suarez-is-staying-here Brendan Rodgers insists Liverpool have no intention of selling Luis Suarez in the January transfer window. Speculation in Thursday's press suggested Manchester City have shown an interest in the Uruguay striker - but Rodgers is adamant he'll remain a Reds player. The boss told reporters at Melwood: "He's certainly not someone we want to sell or move on. He has been a brilliant player to work with and we want to add to our squad - not take people out of it, especially a world-class player. "We'll continue to work and stay focused on what we're trying to achieve. Luis has already shown in the summer his commitment to the club. He signed a new deal and you've seen up until this point, he's in a great moment in his footballing life here at Liverpool. He's scoring goals and working well. "I'll just continue to communicate with all the players and Luis in particular. He is very, very happy here. "There will be no bidding war. He is staying here."
I actually think it's good that they have come out and said it, we all knew he would stay but now the media have less **** to throw.
My only question is 'where did these stroies come from?' Rodgers? Can't say I'd be impressed with him risking upsetting our main player if true. Liverpool? If its the club then WTF is going on...? Suarez's Agent? Can't see it but that would be the most worrying Man City / Mancicni? Well, can only be expected, they're trying to be like Barca / Real and they use these tactics all the time.
I'd say that is unlikely, the stories usually come from somewhere. Although I am also convinced that website such as Caught Offside were set up by journalists etc. bull **** stories made up by Joe public which, in turn, gives the journalist a source
There's a massive difference between jarg rumours on bs websites & stories that are run en masse by a number of the National Dailys. With the latter there's always someone behind them leaking to the press in order to assist with whatever their agenda is. Managers, players, agents, club PR officials etc etc, all do it. Who's behind this one? who knows, but you can bet that whoever it was has an end game in mind.
1. after aug 31 i can't give credance to the lfc owners or transfer team to have this much brains. 2. i'd still sell him for 50mil anyday. 3. i'm glad rodgers said he's not going anywhere as i love to watch him in action. 4. he's not the be all and end all guys we are getting obsesed as he's our only goal scorer, he does do far to many nutmegs and isn't in the box enough. we can replace.. we were the same over torres and here's luis! 5. the press will ignore it and keep the story going, good press and all that.
Brendan Rodgers has nipped it in the bud, he's said that he wants Suarez to remain at LFC for years to come and Suarez wants to stay at LFC for years to come. PS. £50 million is taking the piss, we sold an off the boil Torres to Chelsea for that.
Disagree. Pretty sure it was Kenny's plan to have Torres AND Suarez - and we all know how that ended up
I cannot see how you can put a price on him. If Suarez were to leave we would lose not just our best player, we would lose respect in the footballing world for continually selling our best players. We will never get back to the top if we sell our best players, no matter how ludicrous the price. If we were to replace him who could we possibly sign who could bring the same commitment, energy, goals and passion that Suarez brings? And all of that for less than £50 million? Pah, stop talking out your arse MITO. If Ronaldo was worth £80 million when playing fantastic football surrounded by League winners, then Suarez commands just as much for playing to a similarly high standard and yet being surrounded by much less talent than United had. Also it isn't the same as Torres. He had struggled to replicate the form from his first couple of years with us, and he appeared to be a little despondent whenever he pulled on the jersey. Suarez is in the form of his life and he seems to love playing football for Liverpool Football Club. Seriously, suggest to me a player who you think could possibly replace Luis Suarez who would want to join a club currently in the bottom half of the league.
