Who'd have thought it possible, Steven Taylor has managed to gain employment again as a Professional Footballer, across the pond, in Portland. Maybe, it'll be a good move for him, being closer to Hollywood, where his acting skills can be put to good use. Seriously though, good luck...
Agree, was 100% committed to the Toon but never really progressed to the once promised level. Good luck.
Think he could have gone a lot further if he hadn't suffered injuries at key times in his career. As a centre half he should be at the peak of his career now at 30, having developed the positional and anticipational skills to go with the speed and physical ability you require of a centre half. Unfortunately he is probably still at a playing age of about 23 due to missed time and by the time he hits his mental peak he will be physically fxcked. Good luck to him anyway - could never fault him for not putting the effort in.
Don't begrudge him anything. Never really fulfilled his potential, but was Black and White to the core. Good luck in the USA.
I assume the standard at the top of the MLS league is around middle of the Championship. If that is the case, then Taylor will probably be up to the job over there, although no doubt he won't play more than a handful of games each season due to injuries.
He was Geordie through and through, but the MLS isnt that easy, he will still have to come up against the likes of Kaka, Villa, Giovinco, Dos Santos, Lampard e.t.c, not all are blessed with pace but have the vision and ability to make defenders like taylor look silly. I do wish him well though and I hope he scores because the Timbers present their goal scorers with a massive log!
Not sure if this a reference to his honesty, or one of his endless fitness ailments in which lightly kicking a football resulted in his heart falling out of his chest and onto his sleeve. The Kieron Dyer of this decade - all unfulfilled potential and constant injuries, promising to start with, but absolutely woeful for most of the last 5 years. Not missed, have fun reaping more undeserved piles of cash in Yanksville.
