I need advice from posters on here regarding shirts. I have an interview for a job soon, and i was wondering what sort of shirt would be best (my last job didn't require formal clothing). I want to make a good impression on them, so i need some tips. Should i have long or short sleeves, what colour tie etc. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Might I suggest that you don't have an Arsne Wenger type tantrum if your interview isn't going well - or is that why you haven't got a job at the moment ?

Buy a shirt & tie set from Asda thus making sure the shirt & tie match.

    Should wear a suit really.

Can I please retract my original (silly) reply ? I didn't realise I had stepped through some sort of time portal - into the dimension of Sensible General Chat - unlike the (ab) ' normal ' one. And whilst I am being a bit more mature can I wish you good luck.

If you are really keen on the job , I`d suggest you wear a loose fitting shirt

In case it needs to be lifted <ok>

According to me White colour is best for interview. White shirts are the safest and most conservative. Cream, almond and pale-blue shirts are also fine as long as they are solid without stripes or patterns.

OK I've let you sleep on my good wishes for the interview. ( those wishes remain sincere .) However the gravitational pull of Real World General Chat proved too strong and we're 'back'! - I am struggling to accept that a student of law would need to visit a site (whose contributors generally invite ritual humiliation), to seek advice on dress code for such an important occasion. Are you really that devoid of basic common sense ? When I read your post I actually credited you WITH some common sense, and thought it was a 'wind up' - so I responded in the time honoured tradition of General Chat. But when you ' bit ' I'm afraid you exposed your lack of common sense. I really hope you succeed at the interview - because, at least, it would seem that you have a desire to work and thereby be financially independent.
