I am not aware that the Club have a new kit for this season. I expect that, come the end of the season Mr.Scally will attempt to clear any existing stock by having some form of 'sale.' I think he's missed a trick by not having a sale at this moment in time - when the attraction of wearing a shirt for a whole season would be great. I also note that there is no voucher in season ticket books for discounted merchandise. In the last few years STH have been given a voucher for 20% discount off merchandise - Thanks, for 'nothing' Mr.Scally. - I have my replica shirt, but was looking to buy anther couple - but I'm not going to pay full price if their 'shelf life' will be only half that of a new kit in 2016/17. * I'm not asking Mr.Scally not to have a general sale for EVERYONE - but what was wrong with keeping the voucher 'sweetener' for STH ? If there had been a 20% voucher in my STH book, I would have 'spent' a minimum of £ 80 ( less discount of £16 ) thus giving the Club an extra £64. As it is I have saved my money for next season and the Club have got NOTHING more out of me. - We can all play hardball !
You do get 10% discount on production of your ST book, not the 20% you'd hoped for but it's something. Plus we need the money to pay for the new lad from Chelsea.
grumpygit The 10% is on 'selected' items. I'll be surprised if shirts will be 'selected.' What will happen next season for STHs - will the 4 friends for a £5 be reduced to 2 ? Will we have to prove 'friendship' in the same way that we STILL have to have photographs that can be checked - whilst 'casual' fans can remain anonymous. The thin edge of the wedge is getting thinner !
poor old scally can t do anything right. Have the same kit for two seasons and people complain, if we change kit every season would have even more complains. The 10% off should include shirts i would expect.
gioblues I'f we were having a new kit every season I'd buy a NEW shirt. It is standard practice to have 'best before dates' on products in our supermarkets. I would expect you to pick up an item with a longer shelf life ! DFS seem capable of having an 'eternal' sale - so I would have thought that, just before a new season begins, it would be an ideal time to have a sale ( for everyone) of stock with a short 'best before date ) - as this was the other point I was trying to convey. As far as it concerns treatment of STH, I won't repeat all of what has been said in the past - but, amongst other things, we're still the ONLY group of fans who have to provide a photograph to prove our identity before we can enter the ground - when the Club have got no idea who the Tom, Dick or Harriet it is who pays cash on the day. gioblues - I will credit you with enough intelligence to work out that I was bleating on about the principles of the matter. STH are still the only group of people have to prove their identity regardless of the fact that they pay 'up front', for their goods (for the whole season), and now the attraction of the 'privileges' of spending extra on merchandise, is being eroded.
I have to provide photo proof with my train season ticket which I have paid for up front and people who buy a single ticket don't. Is this any different? The production of photo evidence is as much for your protection as anything else. Or would you be happy for someone to use your ticket should you lose it or it be stolen? But that is not the point on this thread. Shirts that's what this is about and I tend to agree with Gio on it. People will moan about anything. Some will moan if it's done one way, in this case not changing the shirt, and then if it's done differently someone else will be saying "why do they change it every year, it's not fair." Etc etc etc. just go back to the centenary shirt, people moaned. It's what they do. But if the worst of your problems with the club are the above then we are not in that bad a position so be happy.
GeminiSwiftgfc The issue of photos on season tickets ( and other impositions on only ST holders ), has been previously thrashed out in this forum - and I think it split our members fairly evenly on both sides. There's little merit in dragging it all up again. I might have been wrong to have 'slightly' opened up the debate again - but it was difficult not to give it a brief mention as I was querying the withdrawal of the 'previous years' discount - at a time when it would probably make commercial sense for the Club to try to increase the sale of shirts - especially as the current batch are current for only half the time that a new kit would be - next season (2016/17). I also have stated that a general sale ( for everyone ), at this time would probably have some reasonable success - and I was surprised that Mr.Scally ( being the shrewd businessman that he is ), didn't announce a sale. The fact that the discount voucher has been 'removed' from this years season tickets, means that I have no incentive to buy (2 additional shirts) - ( from old/current stock ) - therefore the Club has lost £64 in keeping the price @£40 ( or is it £39.99 ? ) a piece - AND - I would still purchase a new shirt ( probably 3 ) NEXT season.
