I'm planning on buying my youngest a home shirt with a name and number on it for his birthday. He's going to be 6 and we're getting him the Youth Small size. Has anyone got experience of putting names on a shirt that small - how long a name will actually fit and still look good?

His compromise choice is Duff, but he'd love to have a Berbatov. Is that too long a name to fit on a 6 year old's shoulders? We're buying online, so I can't just ask in the shop. Any advice from those of you with kids older than mine will be gratefully received.

You should get BRYBATOV on his shirt. Best of both worlds.

I’d give the club store a call as they would be able to advise - 0843 208 1223. At the moment they have an offer where you can get Berbatov 9 free when you purchase a shirt.

I think you could get Berbatov but due to the length of the name it could be more of a semi-circle rather than straight across the shoulders.

If you are any sort of father youd give your son the Youth small size with Ruiz on it and then go on ebay and put a winning bid in for Betbatovs shirt from Saturday.

I keep misreading the thread title as "**** Question". I have nothing more useful to add, unfortunately.

Mission accomplished. The nice man on the end of the phone said Berbatov would fit fine, so I've taken advantage of the freeby offer and done it online. Craving, it would appear that I'm no sort of father at all! Hey ho.

Captain, don't worry about it. My daughter thinks I'm so not with it.
I got my first shirt at a similar age although I stuck out like a sore thumb as we lived near Sheffield at the time and if you didn't have red/white or blue/white stripes on your shirt you were considered weird! I hope it brings Captain Jnr loads of luck when he plays footie next.
