Chesney officially confirmed as #1 (Almunia's shirt) Giroud to wear #12 (now that Vela has left) Podolski has interestingly not been given a number yet - perhaps he's waiting for the #9 if / when Park leaves? Or van Persie's #10? Does this indicate that one or both will be sold? Coquelin has taken #22 Kyle Bartley is in at #35 Full list: Squad numbers: 1 Wojciech Szczesny 2 Abou Diaby 3 Bacary Sagna 4 Per Mertesacker 5 Thomas Vermaelen 6 Laurent Koscielny 7 Tomas Rosicky 8 Mikel Arteta 9 Ju Young Park 10 Robin van Persie 11 Andre Santos 12 Olivier Giroud 14 Theo Walcott 15 Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 16 Aaron Ramsey 17 Alex Song 18 Sebastien Squillaci 19 Jack Wilshere 20 Johan Djourou 21 Lukasz Fabianski 22 Francis Coquelin 23 Andrey Arshavin 24 Vito Mannone 25 Carl Jenkinson 26 Emmanuel Frimpong 27 Gervinho 28 Kieran Gibbs 29 Marouane Chamakh 31 Ryo 35 Kyle Bartley 52 Nicklas Bendtner TBC Lukas Podolski A lot of players out on the Tour that haven't been given numbers - Lansbury, Afobe etc. Does this indicate they will go on loan? Or would you anticipate they'll be given numbers if / when they're added to the squad?
Podolski wears the number 10 shirt for Germany and wore the same number when he was playing for Koln. He is clearly waiting for RVP to leave.
Those two? Hopefully as far away from first team as possible. I would try to sell Lansbury for good, it's very obvious to me he will never make it in the first team, and 21 years isn't the kind of age to hope "another loan will prepare him". If it doesn't work for a player as talented as Vela who does pretty well in La Liga, it won't work with a completely average player who couldn't secure a spot in the Championship.
