Whatever sh1te we are in SL is a hero and I for one back him and thank him for the support he has shown in my beloved City.......................we need him AND his money to continue to support us.............................don't knock the guy, wouldn't you be a bit hesitant to plough your own cash into this lot at the moment?
He certainly could have invested it more wisely, but hey when you have the amount he has 1 million is the equivalent of 1 thousand to the average man.
If I was worth, what is it 300m or so? I would. I said in a previous thread, SL stated that he wanted this club to progress to the Premiership, build a new stadium etc......to deliver that, you need to pour money into it and wisely. A lot has been wasted and we find ourselves 2nd from bottom of the championship, a far cry from his vision. If his ambition for the club is the same, he needs to do his suit up, push up his tie and get it sorted. If it means putting more money in, then so be it, if he does let all cross our fingers and hope he does it properly.
SL is the best and worse thing about the club. On one hand we are where we are because we have had a stable board that has steered City to this level. On the other hand everything is controlled by one person and we go and do what he wants and at times that has held us back. He is looking to build a stadium to build HIS legacy where even clubs like Liverpool have now scrapped the idea of moving to a new ground and are now instead rebuilding what they have. Yes SL has done a lot for us but there is also been a lot wrong under his control. One thing if he ran his own business as he has the club he wouldnt have a business anymore. The last few years have shown that if you try and do the job on the cheap you dont get lasting results.
If Mr Lansdown is expected by fans to flood the transfer market with money how would this sit with future financial fair play rules? Players want contracts beyond twelve months, City already operate well past their income and the logical outcome is that the club will find itself within a short period of time in a transfer embargo. Chucking cash without a thorough business plan around is short - termism.
http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/Bris...14-4-million/story-17501918-detail/story.html Spend more!! Clubs have been promoted on a wage bill less than City latest loss. The Club needs to re-define where it is going!
I'm not suprised with that if I'm honest, just reading between the lines, it shows just how much money has been wasted with bad decision making. Millen & staff. Wasted St Johnstone, Del & Staff. Wasted Paying up contracts, ie Lee Johnson, but then we bought more of a useless midfielder in Kilkenny(thank you keef) Wasted
......and in other news. It was anounced today that City have made a record loss of 14 million in the last trading year.......just heared it on radio Bristols news. If anyone wants to knock Steve Lansdown, now is probably NOT the time to do it.
Does todays big loses of over £14m show that maybe the people in charge of the club dont know what they are doing. Its all great having a rich bloke in charge but if you dont know what you are doing you will always lose out. So as fans we are the ones who are going to have to pay for their mistakes. The figures dont lie the income has gone down, like fan numbers, and out goings have gone up. With current results as they are expect less fans to attend which will mean less money so yes it would cost money to let Del go but you have to judge that cost against the loss in ticket sales and the loss in tv money and prize money that comes with relegation. The main issue I see is we have failed for years in giving opportunities to our young players and getting them through the system as younger players earn less money. In time these players could have been sold for high prices which is why teams like Southampton went from being in real trouble to selling off their players and reinvesting and now have been promoted. We have been for years a buying club when it comes to players are rarely ever sell players, only release or pay them off. However is our figures any worse than clubs around us.
The loss is not the largest, but the loss compared to income as an overspend [%] has been the worst in the division [except Pompey]. This season the overspending has been increased again by the clubs owner.
